Biden Is HIDING the Answer to Clean Energy

Samantha Lehman explains why President Biden's mysterious designation of almost a million acres of land for a national monument for indigenous tribes prevents the expansion of uranium mining in the United States which could be a very efficient solution to sustainable energy. Nuclear energy has been discouraged and other "green" fuel sources like wind and solar power have been incentivized even though they are dramatically less efficient.

If I told you in a major city in America there have been nearly a half dozen nuclear reactors working for at least 60 years within a couple of miles of millions of people with no incidents and no protests, would you believe it? In San Diego Bay, at any given time there are at least 2-5 nuclear attack submarines and 1-3 aircraft carriers parked in the harbor downtown. Each sub has one reactor and the carriers two each. For sixty years they have been a constant without any incident or protest. Why we can't use small reactors, similar to those in San Diego Bay, is all political because it is practical.

why doesnt anyone talk about thorium reactors? benefits of thorium over uranium. negatives?

You are right about nuclear being the answer, but I’m not in agreement with the reactor that everybody being forced to use, only a few percent of the uranium is actually used in the fuel rods. The current Cold War relic reactor design is responsible for two radioactive ghost towns already. There is not enough of the right kind of uranium for everybody to fuel these inefficient reactors so enrichment Process will be needed, not to mention the 20,000 years stewardship of the radioactive waste. The right type of fission reactor is the Thorium Molten Salt Reactor, it’s not possible to make radioactive ghost towns as the reactor is not under pressurise and there’s no water to separate into hydrogen and oxygen to make an Explosion💥, the reactor enriches Thorium into a clean burning low grade uranium, the process is in the upper 90s percent efficiency range, resulting in a stewardship of radioactive waste of only 300 years in a much reduced quality compared to its counterpart. After reclassification of Thorium to that of uranium, rare earth mining became less Cost efficient because of having to Disposed of the thorium that accompanies rare earth, making USA more dependent china rare earth. Even though the Thorium Molten Salt Reactor was developed in the USA and cancelled by Richard Nixon, this technology was not pursued by western countries until recently with bureaucratic red tape impeding progress, but in china the government encourages this technology and they now have a functioning prototype and plans to build a giant containership powered by the thorium reactor. With the Thorium Molten Salt Reactor you gain fuel Independence as thorium is everywhere, also rare earth independent as rare earth is in most of the green technology we use, but don’t forget the Independence of carbon capture Credit games.

I'm down with preserving as much of America's natural heritage as possible, as opposed to the 19th and early 20th centuries' emphasis on ruthless exploitation. However, it seems clear that if America wants to continue to grow its population to compete with China and India, and also reduce pollution and GHG emissions, uranium mining, for which the land can be restored to its natural state, seems an acceptable and better option; covering the landscape with wind and solar farms, in their way are uglier than the mines and probably more polluting over their lifespans.

Nuclear energy has a higher thermodynamic efficiency, but is much more expensive than solar or wind. Uranium costs aren't the major cost driver either, it's the construction of nuclear power plants. The Biden administration passed massive, multi-billion dollar subsidies for new nuclear reactors and advanced nuclear technologies in the infrastructure bill as part of an effort to develop cost-competitive nuclear technology. But until someone makes a major breakthrough, nuclear simply can't compete in the marketplace.

That's why small reactors are the answer. They cost 2 million and can be up and running in a month. Giant multibillion dollar monoliths were never the answer.
