@hickoryhippie3 күн бұрын
I'm no Biden fan. Not even close, actually, but to make it to the most powerful office in the world requires a great deal of intelligence. Having a simple mind is impossible if you achieved the position. Now, whether or not one makes good or bad decisions is different, but no president has been perfect. Decisions are more often than not subjectively perceived to be good or bad (unless it can be quantified like the economy). So that isn't the best indication of whether or not a president is supremely intelligent either.

I had the great pleasure and honor to actually meet Justice Scalia personally, face-to-face, shake his hand, and chat with him, while I was in law school. He had a great sense of humor and really was a genuinely nice guy. I mostly agreed with him, but don't think he got it right 100% of the time, but that would be the case for any other human being. But he definitely was an absolutely brilliant legal mind and I definitely agreed with his philosophy regarding the correct method for interpreting the Constitution.

Correct method? There is no correct method. It’s all subjective. But do you really think textualism is the “correct” way to interpret law for a society? I just noticed Justice Scalia smoking a pipe! Inside! Where are the sirens and SWAT teams?
@EndoftheTownProductions24 күн бұрын
10:36 -- Biden attempts to provide a prior quote from Scalia about privacy, turns around to find where the quote is from, and then quickly figures out that this was a statement Scalia made minutes before. Priceless!

Is like a college professor speaking to a first grader, everything this justice is saying is going over this "almost midshipman, top of the lawschool class, double major, college professor, civil rights marcher, truck driver, black female, Irish, Greek, Puerto Rican, black church going Jewish man's" head.
