YES! People go on and on about crime, inflation, lack of affordable housing issues, etc 'causing these problems - think what a 1007% increase (yes, one-thousand and seven, not one hundred and seven) in executive salaries (according to US DOL) since the 80s, and a 7.5 % average increase in wages for non-executives over the same period of time, has done to the economy of the average American, and then project it onto the world's economies, because our economy has a huge impact on the world's. Then add in the lack of taxes paid by billionaires and giant corporations (both of whom, by the way are buying up homes and then renting them out, and building nothing besides upper middle-income affordable homes and higher than 30% of income-rent homes) and what do you have? You have what we have now, and unless things change, it isn't getting better, it will get WORSE.

I think 30 is old enough. If the country can survive a moron like Trump then a 34 year old AOC would not be a problem in my opinion. I also would like to see the voting age reduced to 16. I don't think many 16-17 year olds will vote and I think many will actually vote very strategically. Because they have a great interest in politics cause otherwise they wouldn't vote at all. Also of course prisoners should gain full voting rights. Them not being allowed to vote is a leftover from racism and is also a very dangerous thing cause it means the government can silence people by imprisoning them which it has already done in the past.

I, too, am of the age when one could watch a State of the Union address, and see both parties applauding and cheering for a common issue that benefits us all. Today, my disgust goes beyond the partisan temperature in politics. It's disgust for the elected politicians who take on the responsibility of "For The People" and end up working For Their Pockets. For the same reason he can't do anything about it today: The People need to make sure they, we all have blue ballots and keep and expand Democrats majority in both House & Senate this election year. The 2024 election is a horrible uphill battle for a blue senate. We have 23 Dem senators running for re-election, and maybe Manchin is out, definitely Sinema who is an Independent but sometimes helps Dems is out. Ruben Gallego is the Democrat running to replace Sinema. He's a great candidate! Donate if you can! He needs all the help get can get in that red state. Only strong progressive blue majorities will get us the change on SCOTUS we so badly need. 😊

It takes too long to get through District Court, and years for Appellate Court, and we need an eleven member Supreme Court with some balance Democrats have always tried to nominate center left. Republicans have been stacking the Court with Catholic far right conservatives.

⁠​⁠@@Catzilla931 I believe the Supreme Court can only be adjusted (up or down) in increments of 4. Personally, I wish they would pass term limits. Presidents can only be in office for a max of 8 years so that seems like a good number. We need to continually get fresh minds in there and that way they don’t have as much time to be corrupted. Additionally, I think it might be a good idea if it was made mandatory that there be a limit to have a majority of only 1 at all times no matter the appointing party or the term limited member leaving.

Unfortunately, even our literal "public utilities" are more often than not controlled by a few rich people. Electricity, natural gas, internet, water in some cases, healthcare, insurance, etc. Personally, I think all of these things should be operated by the government but aren't in most cases & have become unaffordable for most Americans. I realize this makes me a socialist at best & I'm not ashamed of it. There are necessary institutions that, for humane reasons, should not be required to make a profit to exist.

There is this thing about denying that the US is rich and powerful, like it needs to get every last dollar to survive. I think this is projection cause so many people struggle to make ends meet they figure that the entire country is like that but that's wrong. The US is massively rich and can easily afford to give everyone an upper-middle class level lifestyle. It just choosen not to. Same thing in Europe. With how productive modern economies are unless you do something truly bizarre you can treat them as effectively infinite when it comes to welfare. For a developed economy they can afford anything their citizens need.

Ayn Rand was a nut case, but she knew and taught the real meanings of all these socio political terms that everyone throws around without understanding them. Collectivism encompasses socialism and communism. The two terms are almost completely interchangeable. Public roads are communist/socialist. I’m good with language and it always leaves me wondering how most people don’t understand that communism and community are from the same root word. Government is also socialist/communist. “Ist”means something is the most important. Communist means the community is the most important thing. The so called capitalist politicians are always talking about community as a such a high value, and in the same breath say communism is SO evil. It is just like Animal Farm, beds with sheets. Public education, and public libraries and public buildings and…are all socialist/communist. Taxes are socialist. Laws are socialist. Humans are social creatures, like wolves and baboons and… the good part about the constitution is that it recognizes that societies are made up of individuals, and you shouldn’t be oppressed by society. But we don’t have socialism or capitalism, we have corruption.
