In this class, we continue to do riyaz or practice of shuddha swar (pure notes). The main focus of this class it to practice the riyaz in "Aakar", which is singing the notes in the syllable "aa". We learn to practice many different combinations of notes in different rhythms. These combinations are called Swar Alankar. To download the riyaz file accompanying this class, please visit my website: www.bidishaghosh.com/classes
To set the rhythm, we use an app on the iPhone called the iTablaPro. This app can be set to an appropriate key suitable to your voice range. It can also be set to a desired rhythm, and you can increase or decrease the speed based on your riyaz needs.

About this video series:
In this series of videos, we will learn some of the basics of Hindustani classical music, including the notes (swar), how to practice the notes (swar riyaz), elements of rhythm (taal) and the concept of a raga or raag. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raga)

Could hear children doing riyaz every morning in my neighbourhood and wanted to do it myself. But my parents wouldn't allow it. I don't be blame them though - they've always wanted the best for me. Mam its been a month practising this lesson 2 and i can feel the difference in my voice but now from last week i feel like i am stuck at one place . I feel my i have hit my plateau and not able to grow more. Its been a month but i am still not able to do 6 notes at a time and the rest part . Still there is hoarseness in my voice while doing aakar . My breathing has definitely became better as i can sing and hold a note for long period but now i feel i am stuck. Thank you☺️
