Words cannot describe the sorrow the people of Chico are feeling But we have to keep in mind No one got hurt and the mansion will live on in people’s memories God bless and stay safe

About 20+ years ago the dentist house I think it’s called the Stansberry house. I shingled that. Also repair of the wood gutters on the upper upper roof. And I assessed a rear handmade metal roof. RE: the Bidwell home I have only done a little bit of wood shingle/shake work( roofing ). I see this as a huge loss. And I am absolutely dumbfounded how this could even happen. I cannot believe that our city/state/museum did not ensure that this construction site was protected.

I believe this building had fire sensors, was it disabled during the renovations? No one has brought this up.

I thought it had sprinklers, but it's been so long since I've been there. I was a student there in the 90s. I can't even picture Chico without the mansion. Very devastating.

I’ve worked on a lot of fire stations. In Northern California. I’ve worked on the museum. I’ve worked on the Stansberry house. I worked on The fire station near the upper Bidwell park entrance. I worked on Oroville CDF headquarters. I’ve done on-call fire fighting in N California. But honestly, I’m struggling to even know why we build these Barricks for the fire fighters and engine rooms for the firetrucks. I don’t know why we build offices for the administrators. Pictures seems like over the course of the last 30 years we really really do not put out fires anymore. Whether it’s fuel reduction out in the forest or it’s fuel reduction of a structure. It sure seems like they let these things go until they go out on their own. I recall working on the Johnson fire and other fires many years ago. We would mark in and cut fire lines but we don’t do that anymore. I don’t think. I don’t really know what to type in here today. I’m kind of just rambling on. The Museum with a huge loss. And I struggle to believe that fire stations weren’t close enough to the museum and that they could not have raced over there sooner. Why do we have a fire stations in 2024? I think there’s a lot of people out in the public that have stories to tell

Not to accuse until we know but a possibility is all the homeless that live nearby might have wanted to spend the night indoors??Maybe warming up their soup kitchen greuel over an open fire??
