Hi, Bielsko Biała is my home city, can I ask you what are you doing in Bielsko? I am very courious what could be the reason to move from such rich and wealthy country like US to poor and small country like Poland in eastern europe?

the architecture in BB comes from Austro-Hungarian monarchy influence as it was its part. Many classical buildings are just monumental, grand, soaring, over-towering Kraków's architecture

Im gonna move to Bielsko in a few months. This video comes useful for me. I wanna ask you... Did you find hard to communicate with ppl? I mean they're all speaking English? Thanks a lot
@britinpoland23922 жыл бұрын
It is a lovely place, looks like a great place to live so I hope you enjoy it :) Most places you can get by in English, the tourist office was very helpful for me, cafes and restaurants are good, though in shops it can be mixed so I’d totally recommend learning some basics at least
@jendrusk2 жыл бұрын
In Poland, until around 1988, the foreign language taught in schools (from primary ones) was Russian, after this year it was changed to English, so you can expect that most people up to 45 years old will be able to speak English better or worse.
@mroxygennemroxygenne29392 жыл бұрын
Nope, older than younger ones never had a chance to learn it during education process, so even if they do they had to want to learn it by their own

Bielsko-Biala is not in Silesia, e.g. east part of the city with the city hall is located in Lesser Poland. Through the Klimczok mountain runs the border between the Silesia region and Lesser Poland region. Administrative borders of the Silesian Voividship do not match the theritory of Silesia, the true is that it's theritory combines 50/50 by the eastern parts of Silesia and western parts of Lesser Poland
@britinpoland23923 жыл бұрын
Okay, Wikipedia’s bad in this instance, chatted with some Polish friends tonight and they could see your point on this, thanks for the extra info 👍
@mroxygennemroxygenne29392 жыл бұрын
It is in both, silesia and Polonia Minor as well. Border goes from Klimczok down Biala river separating this two region. That’s why we have Bystra śląska i krakowska on the other side of river, same like Mikuszowice Śląskie i krakowskie and Komorowice śląskie i krakowskie. Biała river is the border, thats basic fact about this unusual town.
@arturkasza3176 Жыл бұрын
Well, now, administratively, it's 100% in Silesia region, though historically and culturally, as another comment below points out, it was an urban meeting point between Silesia and Małopolska.
@andrzej5620 Жыл бұрын
@@arturkasza3176 there is not such thing as 'Silesia region' e.g. there is nothing silesian on the right bank or not less then lesserpolish on the left bank of Bialka river. Meeting point is always on borders, nothing special in it, but it was rather meeting point between Austria and Poland, Austrian Silesia and Galicia/Lesser Poland
@arturkasza3176 Жыл бұрын
@@andrzej5620 You don't question the existence of "województwo śląskie", do you? We know the history. I was born in Biała, went to Kopernik, I know the history of the city and of the region. I mean you don't question the existence of a region? Of course there were micro-level influences and macro-level influences. The historical region of Silesia had completely different borders from today's region, and whether Silesia today can be called a region is a valid discussion. It's probably the most incoherent region in Poland in terms of local identities. I come from 'Podbeskidzie'. But today we have województwo śląskie, and I used the English word 'region' to mean that territorial unit.

More history please. What happened during ww2 and afterwards? Was this a German city? What was its German name? Poland tried to erase the German history of the transferred areas. But many German refugees still remember it’s history. Like one of your comments show. Also of course would be useful to mention how many Jews were murdered there

Ooo man this is city from local society…How you thinking why on the east of Germany today existing soo many polish sounding names of cites and small towns?🤷🏼♂️Budziszyn,Lipsk- because Lipa (tree)not Linde tree,Welzow-(because Wełżów),Sebnitz(because Sebnice)Niska,Königswartha- Warta Królewska ….., Chociebuż…. and many many moore.. Your historic truth is a hoax. I love people but historic truth is more complicated story and we dont know more than we learned in school.. German cites in Poland is a Stettin and i give back this city to DE but for example Wroclaw has a Hanza duchy .You should open a wikipedia and dot say misleading theories..🤷🏼♂️
