As someone who has cable cars all around him, I have to say that the cable cars usually take the shortest and steepest route. (Actually, that's one of the big advantages of cable cars: You don't need to care for steepness. You just take the shortest path.)
@QemeH
@QemeH 2 жыл бұрын
Plus, they are among the least intrusive public transport options for residents along the line. Yeah, the stations are noisy hot spots for dumb tourists, but I would rather have a cable car go along my back yard than a rail line, BRT, monorail or whatever else fueled by dead dino juice.
@inyobill
@inyobill 2 жыл бұрын
I had a very similar thought.
@marco_grt4460
@marco_grt4460 2 жыл бұрын
@@QemeH even the cable car can be powered by dead dinosaur juice (actually the oil is phytoplankton and dead zooplankton), also there are electric trains that go up to 3454 meters above sea level and it is called the Jungfrau railway, (in German Jungfrau Bahn). The railway line is equipped with a metric gauge track that uses a rack system given the slope that reaches the value of 250 per thousand. The traction was electric from the beginning; it is currently at 1,125 volts, three-phase alternating current. In addition there is an energy saving, every 4 trains descending, a train climbs without using the dam current because the energy generated by the braking system is re-introduced into the system
@QemeH
@QemeH 2 жыл бұрын
@@marco_grt4460 I mean... technically you are right, it's not the power _source_ that makes the cable car more quiet than railways or BRT but rather the _location_ of power generation. A train or bus has to bring its locomotion with it, whereas the cable car only produces the required power at the stations...

Regarding the tram depot: There is something in the workshop called "block services". I have not played with it myself, but it is a 1x1 (or 2x2 maybe) little tiny block you can place on the map, which can spawn various things..... and there is one for trams. The idea of these "block services" is that you can then use ANY building (like the one you placed) as a tram depot, by just placing it on top of that little block. Trams will spawn from the block inside the building (assuming you have tracks into the building) and it should work...... it would prevent trams from spawning in the wrong spot......and you wouldn't have to move a spawn point halfway across the map! ;-)

For pronounciation, you would pronounce Teabaek has Tea B(eh)k the ae in korean sounds a lot like the british Eh! Also I love that you've made a mountain park in the korean theme because one of the national pastimes of South Korea is Hiking! Seeing you make it took me straight back to my time there! If you wanted to add another 'pastime' it's common behaviour in Seoul at least to go for a walk, or bike next to the river on bike paths, maybe stop by a convenience store, and then stop for lunch, on Han River at least! You often find playgrounds, basketball courts and outdoor gyms by the larger rivers too! Just an idea if you wanted to enhance any Korean themed areas you choose to have!

On the cable cars, could turn the roads up the side of the mountains into tunnels so that you can have them coming out of the steep wall sections where you can't place any buildings. With it underground you don't have to worry as much about how steep the road needs to be.

Idea: Since so many people are just walking up to the cable car stop in the park, how about you change the road to a amll pedestrian path? (Maybe you can even find a 1u version). Realisticly, only a few service vehicles would need to go up there, so no road for private vehicles is needed. Especially since it's just a stop. Looks also much better I imagine. What would also quite fit would be a castle or castle ruins as an attraction!

Lovely addition, Biffa, there's one thing I noticed though; nobody can get onto the keywalls; a nice side path just before the pedestrian bridges that go down to the keywalls would be nice. Now that I look at it; the paths and places around it have a very "back to nature vibe" the concrete key walls don't really fit that; aren't there some more nature-oriented key walls existing somewhere. Nice red brick ones or something?

Nice to see that you took my suggestion! It's pretty much how I imagined the park and the cable car to go. I would check and see that there is a good bus connection to the start of the cable car, so that it's easy to reach it from the main part of the city. I would also make the little lake area into an extention of the park. This way you can get a lot of nice items along the lake and increase the land value even more.

Great build, cable cars are always so underutilised in this game. It's such a shame that the game doesn't automatically turn paths into stairs at a certain level of steepness, that would be such a great addition.

Some notes / suggestions: 1) You defined the nature reserv to work at night but you are using the path without lights. Not sure you noted but the "decorated" path doesn't have much difference from the other one, just the light poles. 2) The parking area around the little lake / temple should really be a gravel park area - I believe there are gravel parking in the workshop.

I think you should change the one highway exit instead of going into the one part of the city it should connect going both ways and make a small road to the road that goes up to the korea area, so when getting off the highway instead of having to go around the entire town through neighborhoods they can just get off and go up.

For your area that Eggsy made you should call it Caviar Crossing because fish eggs. You should also do some tiers of houses coming down the mountain. Far enough apart so that the residents can look out over the top of the house in front and do that all the way till you get the the more flat area where you have a normal Korean style city center area as you get closer to the lake.

7:30 Could run another path cliffside, going behind the houses. Starting from the bottom of the point, go right. Then connect up with the other path before it goes right and starts to wiggle up the mountain, connecting with the main path. Or just have a gate, path and park items which aren't connected to the main path. It's a great spot not to utilise.

As someone who has never used cable cars before I feel embarrassed about myself. In many situations I decided not to use this vehicle and instead waste time and money trying to get a metro or a train up a mountain and I also built roads wiggling all the way up, not to mention how I 'remodeled' the terrain. The cable car is definitely something I should be using with my cities from now on, just giving the upper area a small road for resources in case there are some shops up there and that's it.

For the "fake" tram depot, instead of adding a spawn point to the existing depot that is forever away, you could place a tram depot block service inside of the warehouse building, I feel like the game would probably deal with that a bit better than messing with the spawn points that much.

U should balance the free coverage in the park. You have some spots with light tree coverage with the rest having none. Looks a bit weird. That viewing deck though you don't want to block with trees looks a bit lonely up there by itself. 2nd idea. Us a gravel path as a maintenance route for each of the cable car towers. Doesn't need to go the whole way just to as many as possible on flatter ground. Just simple way to add detail. U could also install fences and etc around base of each tower

I think the path by the temple would be best served going to the carpark, so that people can park up and walk around the pond. It may be the case that the road surrounding the temple has pavements, if that's the case then I guess they'll be fine.

You wouldn't need to connect the road for the cable car at the top of the mountain to the rest of your road network if you made it a pedestrian zone, connected to one at the bottom of the cable car line.

If it was Korea, there would be outdoor exercise equipment at the top of the mountain next to the Pagoda. I’m not sure if they have any of that in the game.

Very nice spawn-point trick! Does that mean there are multiple spawn points for that depot or just the one, which you've moved?
