Took me 3 convertibles before I realised I didn't like driving with the roof down... Great vid Niall, keep 'em coming 😊

Ive owned a few myself

This is actually a very good comparison :) I'm wondering how long it takes the owners to realise they don't want all those midges in :)

Love the video style, it’s like watching Grand Designs! Audio was spot on too with your new mic. Great work Neil

Thanks, the mic made a huge difference. I might film outdoors more often

the sf55 can be used with triple glazing as long as the igu width does not exceed 38mm. the sf75 accepts thicker igu configurations than does the sf55.

That’s surprising to hear. When I was looking in 2022, I was looking for very low U-value for a passive door, and the technology was going towards single pane vaccine glass not tripple glazing.

wouldn't multiple panels rolling doors be more sturdy ?
@RealLifeArchitecture Жыл бұрын
Like overhead rollers?

@@RealLifeArchitecture nah, panels each on their own set of horizontal rails

Do you personally prefer crittall style doors or clean expanses of glass?
@RealLifeArchitecture Жыл бұрын
Clean lines, every time. Nothing wrong with Crittall, very stylish doors but they can be expensive for what you get.

How did they support the roof on that corner

I’m so tempted to say MAGIC ✨ but it’s not magic, it’s steel.

@@RealLifeArchitecture I’m looking at doing one 2 meters 1 side 1.5 meters on the return including structural engineers steels and doors what you think cost would be about rough guess if it’s stupid I will stick to straight bi folds
@halflink3 ай бұрын
Interesting, could we get away with double glazing in the South of the UK or not 🤔
@jimmykelly5928 Жыл бұрын
I've always loved large bi-fold doors and I wished I saw them more often. It's a bummer they're a premium product. The large opening width can pose engineering issues that are typically solved with high-cost framing solutions for walls (wf steel lintels, long-span GLBs, etc.) whereas garage doors seem like an affordable option. Do you know if garage door-styled window walls would also need a heavy glazing? What if the space they're dedicated to were coded to a non-living space?
@RealLifeArchitecture Жыл бұрын
You are right, they are premium. Cost cutting bifold doors leads to disaster. The garage type doors, if used in the UK, would not be compliant in a habitable space. That’s why they only appear on garages or commercial / industrial buildings
@chrishunt91 Жыл бұрын
Our sliding door installer was awful. Great doors though. Glad we went with sliders not bifolds.
@RealLifeArchitecture Жыл бұрын
Bifold only really work if they are a premium product, the hinges and running gear need to be first class. It’s not possible to cut corners

@@RealLifeArchitecture... great news ! Will stick to sliding doors then !!! 👍✊

As I always tell my architectural clients, lured by deceptive films of bifold doors, if you want to eat outside - just go outside.
@RealLifeArchitecture Жыл бұрын
In Scotland they spend most of their time closed, so I would usually go for sliding patio doors instead. If a design really needs bifolds they have to be high quality. Cheap ones will fail.
