In this in-depth tutorial, Bifrost Designer Konstantinos "Kosta" Stamatelos, shows you the ins and outs of making full use of the Bifrost Aero solver.
The intent of these master classes is just to give you a good foundation for what all the "knobs and dials" do, rather than to zero in on any specific workflow or effect. This way, when you're experimenting with Aero (or MPM, or Combustion, www.youtube.co..., you have some idea of how to roughly point those experiments in the direction you want to go.

Nice to see this Maya update is something exciting not like previous updates that have been one disappointment after another for years. These nodes look cool, even the doted background! The regular node editor should be updated to look like this one and get rid of redundant editors (hypergraph connections/hierarchy, hypershade, shaderfx editor, etc.) And the parameters panel is very clear, the attribute editor should look like this one. Good job guys 👍

Hello Maya, finally a good update for vfx artists. Unfortunately, way too late. Come on, ICE was introduced into Softimage like 10-11 years ago. I had been a loyal Maya user for a long time, but no major updates in Maya's VFX tools made me switch to Houdini and I'm not coming back. P.S. these general examples you show in promo video look like crap.

First of all, thank you for this master class, and if course the effort put in on the Bifrost. This class cleared a lot of things for me... I lately started adding houndi to my arsenal, but it seems like Maya is doing great on this now.. With a simple to understand system. Question... Is the new Bifrost now considered as a replacement for maya fluids?? And as an earlier comment suggested, a voronoi fracture system will really be great.. And maybe while you guys are at killing it... Buy pulldownit :) Hoping to hear back from you regarding my question if this kinda replaces fluids. Thx...

Episode 1 is focused more on aero and particles than fluids, but we are working to have a fluid solution in the future integrated into the graph. That being said, we have found that you can actually set up MPM particles to behave like a fluid already! I will try to make a video on that as well.

@@Autodesk_Maya Thanks for the reply, but just to clarify ( I think I haven't used the right words for my question).. By fluids I didn't mean liquids.. I meant the the 3d fluid container and using it to create smoke oe explosions & fire. This is what I meant... Cuz it seems the Bifrost is replacing that.. Am I right?

Hello... while I'm working with the tutorial I'm messing with some of the settings to see the results. I wanted the smoke to fall downwards, and so I changed the inherit velocity value, the directional speed, the buoyancy value, etc., and my smoke looks thoroughly unchanged with each value change.

@Autodesk_Maya

For VRay, you'll need to export the sim to a OpenVDB using either a write or file_cache node. Then you can render the cache in any renderer that support that format.
