In today's episode, Kyle and Connor discuss the upcoming Big 10 Championship game against the juggernaut Michigan Wolverines and Iowa's chances to be competitive in this game. They give their picks of the week and then end with their thoughts on last week's game against Nebraska.

Perfect Explanation of Kirk Ball. Most fans have never played football at any level. Until you have been hit so hard that your mouth guard exploded out of your mouth and you have to get back up and do it again and again. They will never really understand Football. Kirks kids never quit on him and we basically George Foreman the other team until they quit. Football is about leverage, it’s about blocking and getting off blocks, it’s about hand to hand combat it’s about tackling and making them feel it. I’m so sick of listening to pundits trash a program because its built on defense,ST, and Ball control. If Iowa can get 3-4 yards a run….. when Michigan knows it’s coming. I could see Michigan caving in. Our Inside zone and counter have been devastating against top shelf defenses in the 4th quarter.

Michigan has an incentive to humiliate Iowa because of Ferentz refusing to collect Social Security and passing by Bo Schembechler in wins. Harbough will show no mercy and if Ferentz is smart he’ll sit his starters early. Until he sees the white flag Harbough will not let up on the gas.

I've always said be careful what you wish for to those who want KF gone. Iowa has done more with less than arguably anyone else in CFB. Also the people who say they want him gone, who the heck do we replace him with? Sure its frustrating at times but sheeeeit we should be proud of the fact that we've been able to accomplish what we have in his tenure given the cards he's been delt.

Any idiot talking about relieving Kirk of his duties is an idiot. Like sized states like Arkansas, Kansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Minnesota, Wisconsin, have had a lot less success over 25 years than a little state whom football might not be the number one sport the state embraces. It might be wrestling. Not to mention traditional talent, pool, $$$, football fever, etc…Those people need to be quiet. Kirk is NOT the problem.

Good point on population. GA has almost double IA population in just the “metro” Atlanta. And UGA has more money. They spend over $4 mil on recruiting. IA , less than $600,000. There is more than “Xs and Os” to being a consistent top ten team.

Do you think we will see the super jumbo package from Michigan. I think they put 7 lineman in against PSU a number of times.

It’s insane. 7 lineman. Two tight ends, QB and RB. I bet we will see it. Look for Iowa to counter with our goal line package.

Really good insight about running the opposite personnel (spread QB/RB runs). I think the one advantage Iowa has is that their defense is built to counter the Michigan box power with two high level tackling LBs, big DL, and a elite flat tackler in Castro. If anything, we will make Michigan go outside of their comfort zone on offense into the spread. Xavier will need to play to his potential and play high if we want to slow their offense down

Definitely. The strength of Iowa’s team is their front seven on defense. If Iowa can limit Michigan’s run game - they could drag this game into the fourth quarter.

Iowa is one phantom hand wave away from being 11-1, so despite the odds, I just can't bring myself to bet against their Cinderella story. I say they muck it up, keep it within one score and end up being the last team with the ball. Win by 1 via walk off field goal. 💛🖤💛🖤

I could be totally off basis as many times I am, but I see our offense taking more chances this game then the entire season combined. Especially on short distances to get a 1st. It's essentially like we are playing with house money. We are expected to not be competitive so why not take risks and potentially move the ball on big shots.

Agreed. Iowa will likely be aggressive in short yardage situations around midfield if it is down or in a tied in this game. Generally Iowa would land a body blow in a normal game, but Iowa’s staff knows 13 points isn’t going to win this game.

10-2 in a more difficult conference is definitely more impressive but they’ve only won 7 or more games 3 times since 2015 (7, 8, and 10). Again, in a far more difficult conference but I would argue Iowa has been the better team this decade.

The unfortunate reality is that the concept of beating an opponent into fatigue in the 4th quarter is something Michigan's offense is even more capable of than Iowa's is. You see it in their games against Penn State and Ohio State. They'll be more than comfortable playing "Iowa football" because they have the personnel to do it better than we do

Problem for Iowa is their D will be on the field too much. By end of 2nd quarter, they won't be able to hold up. Then, UM td's will come.

GREAT SHOW GUYS, reallily find your analysis insightful and on point. I'm a big KF fan, but also realistic about what my eyes see when watching our possession unit. Any chance he evolves his approach to complimentary offensive football with a new coordinator next year? Or will he prop a new face up to run back the same system that cannot generate the first 47:14 downs he claims to prioritize?

I have been an Iowa fan for 5 decades and I am ride or die. The mathematical calculation that Iowa "could" win this game using just Kirk's philosophy would return a null set. If Iowa doesn't run at least 4 misdirection/trick plays in the 1st half Fox may switch to alternate programming. This is a CHAMPIONSHIP game, no player on the field will lose his heart or will in the 4th qtr if the game is still in doubt! You two should know that. Kirk's philosophy will work against poor to mediocre teams, the proof of that concept will come next year when we have to play more than 3 poor/mediocre teams

Iowa is a team that should not be taken lightly. I don't believe Michigan will do so. What happens on the field, is what matters. The rest is conjecture. Still fun to discuss. Iowa's defense is legit, however, are they tougher than Penn State's? Or Ohio State's? If any team is prepared to face a tough defense it is most certainly Michigan. Basically Iowa's game plan is a couple of Pick 6 for points? In case you haven't noticed Michigan's defense is one of the best, also. I guess we will see.

Don't see Iowa slowing down UM offense. UM has played last three games in cold outdoor weather. Not conducive to passing game. Indoor perfect conditions, JJ lights it up.
