Delta is so punctual, safe and the service is outstanding. That is what I like most about this airline. American Airlines is classy, safe, good service as well. US Airways, when I flew with it, it was punctual, the service good quality as well and well I lived in Charlotte NC, and it is the major airline there. The designs are beautiful of the three. Although there was a quick logo design for Delta before the actual one. I remember the tail had like a flag waving kind of design on the tail. Thought it was pretty.

I find Delta very interesting in their choices, especially in the last 3-5 years, seeing them give up on various cities they had such a long tenure using as their focus cities, allowing the budget carriers to take the cities over quickly as they leave. It's sometimes puzzling, like here, they gave up on PDX being a focus airport for them, even though they had consistently remained right at the very top in tickets sold, passengers carried and people talking of them and liking their services here alongside Alaska Airlines. But I believe in 2017 it was when they officially announced they'd be ridding Portland as a focus city, and rid most of their routes here, too. Southwest almost instantly came in and took over most of their routes.

@@Waddle_Dee_With_Internet If you're referring to the incident with the passenger getting dragged off, that flight was actually operated by Republic Airways and the dragging done by O'Hare Airport security staff. Republic operates flights for United Express, American Eagle, and Delta Connection. I'm not loyal to United or anything, but it is interesting that the worst hit to their reputation arose from the actions of a third party who does business with all of the Big Three. That lightning bolt could easily have nailed American or Delta. That said, I do think United handles flight booking, so the overbooking is on them. I'm most familiar with United and their merger with Continental. I lived relatively close to Newark and usually flew Continental on family vacations. My dad also traveled extensively for work and flew them a lot. My grandfather was actually a pilot for United a long time ago, though no one in my family ever flew the pre-merger United during my lifetime. In my opinion, the merger did not go as smoothly as it could have. I remember one trip during the merger where our flight got cancelled out of nowhere at the last minute, and we had to drive to another airport to get home. The airlines essentially operated separately for several years after they received the single operating certificate. These issues were followed by several highly publicized customer service incidents, and really gave the airline a bad reputation. I think they are improving things now by focusing more on customer service and refurbishing all their aircraft cabins, including reintroducing seatback IFE.
@jimlubinski4731 Жыл бұрын
Very interesting observation. Continental had a stellar reputation, but after the merger with United, that got trashed. I was concerned that the same would happen when US Airways (who I had flown exclusively) merged with American, because at the time, American had acquired a negative connotation. Happily, I have not seen a degradation, although I do tend to limit my connections, etc. to former US Airways cities.

I've flown all three of the 'big three'. My choice is Delta, by far. I will willingly pay more to fly Delta because the service and experience is just better. It's not to the level of some European or middle eastern carriers, but it's definitely the best of the big three US airlines. I would also note that I liked flying Continental. I was very disappointed when United decided to merge with them. United ruined a much better airline. Us Airways and American were a good fit together. Both airlines seemed interchangeable anyway. The experience was pretty much identical when they were separate. I hate Southwest only because I absolutely hate being herded like cattle. With occasional motion sickness, I need a window seat. I would rather go with a carrier that gets me an assigned seat, in spite of Southwest's great staff. I only wish I could have experienced Pan Am back in it's glory days.
@JTLI903 жыл бұрын
Two things to correct here: 1) US Airways acquired American Airlines; they just kept the AA branding since it made sense for them 2) United Airlines today is not actually United; while the merger (which is still happening at the grounds-level!) was mostly equal, it’s easier to say that Continental was the major shareholder (both branding and livery as well as top corporate heads came from CO), but keeping the name “United”. I still appreciated the United Airlines history.

AA hubs in PHL, but my last few leisure flights have all been with F9.

Delta is the best one. There's no comparison anymore. They just took it on another level compared to AA and United.

I like United most because of the branding. That sexy United blue... Also I love flying SFO.

United is my favorite, Continental was my second favorite airline because I used to live in Guam which was a hub for both airlines

I fly all the time for work. Delta feels like first class compared to American Airlines. If prices are similar go with Delta

Delta #1 for sure

United has the largest wide body fleet by far, and is the most global of the big four. Delta's FA's sadly are still not unionized and pro-union employees continue to face retaliation from the company. American was actually purchased by US Airways, which was purchased by America West. It's AINO (American in name only).

Delta is totally my favorite with United in second and American in last

There is just one true carrier for US flights: Spirit Airlines 😅 For those who didn't get it: It was a joke

I flew mostly American and United back in the 90s, with Delta a distant third. Didn't do much travel from '95 to '09, but now over the past ten years in my current job I've become a Delta convert and fly them pretty much exclusively. They go where I need to, and their service has been excellent.

Mine would definitely be Delta

It’s worth pointing out that despite all the consolidations and government bailouts, the U.S. actually still has one of the most competitive airline industries. Most other countries typically have one flag carrier and maybe a budget carrier alternative. Besides the Big Three, the U.S. also has JetBlue, Alaska, Southwest, Spirit, Allegiant, and numerous other smaller regional carriers.

Frontier is another one with their iconic animal companion tail logo. Each plane has a different animal riding along.

Great video, but United didn’t retain their CEO after their merger with Continental. Jeff Smisek came from Continental.

Our carrier of choice was Continental Airlines. Under the direction of Gordon Bethune, Continental became the industry leader. Not to mention that for a number of consecutive years, Continental made the “Top 100 Best Places To Work” list.

American and United both have fine service but their employees are very obnoxious. Delta have great service and are always nice! You can even get complementary upgrades very easy!

United has one of the best Frequent flier programs with the option to book a flight with a decent amount of miles all the others ask for a crazy amount of miles that unless you truly fly all the time you will never get to redeem those miles for a trip.

If southwest had long haul it would be the best airline. Yes I realize it is all economy class but let's be honest , can any of us really afford buisness or first. The only issue is one of the main ways they save money is by having a one aircraft type fleet, to keep mantinence simple and buying in bulk possible. But southwest has excellent service, great pilots (Never had a southwest pilot have a hard landing) and they are just so cheap.

My airline choice is AAL, as my dad flies for them and we get discounts.
