We know there are many advanced bassheads out there that know all about the benefits of the big 3 on even smaller setups, but seeing an actual before an after comparison of the true results is rare. We'd like to paint a picture of how drastically it improves your overall performance for people getting into the hobby. We have seen people skip this step and purchase a larger amp to not even get these sort of gains so simply showing you guys with even the smallest budget how beneficial doing this can be. The GP 1/0 pure copper Big 3 we have been keeping at the absolute hook up price of $50 shipped to help people get the electrical fine tuned properly with the highest quality on the first try. Our wire is SAE Certified, Made in the U.S.A.
If you have not done the big 3 in your ride, this is the most affordable and simplest step to getting louder.

I rarely ever comment. But just to let everyone know, big three is a great idea regardless of the purpose after. It keeps all vehicle electronic running smoothly. At the factory, they use the smallest and cheapest wire to get the car out the door. Keeps your alternator from overworking on normal loads.

1.4db is considerable, but saving wear on the alt & battery is even more important. Even supposing no db gain, the Sound Quality gain from doing the Big 3 is reason enough.

I see allot of comments saying they not worrying about the gain or is it really necessary... well I guess these guys never been in the lanes cause if you've ever been in the lanes then you would kno that every decibel counts whether it's to the ear or not... long as the meter read the gain, then that's closer to the winners circle you will stand. Gj Gpaudio on the 1.4 gain

I noticed a difference running 1300rms on all stock,130alt 800cca battery. All ofc 4 gauge. After the big 3 also 4 gauge I noticed my car had a bit more pep in its step also. Not that I had issues with lights dimming prior or SQ , it does make a difference for short $$$$

Good video. I'm running 2 1500 watt Rockford Fosgate amplifiers and 2 18" Crossfire subs. One amplifier per sub. I started out with 4 gage cable a month later 200 amp fuse popped I went to replace the fuse and found that the 4 gage cable going in to the fuse block was burnt and coating was melted. I replaced the stock 63 amp alternator with a 120 amp alternator and done the big 3 as well as running 0 gage cable with a 500 amp fuse in line from the battery to the distribution block and 4 gage cable Y out to the amplifiers. I highly recommend the big 3 and a higher amp alternator. Again great video keep doing what you do.

big 3 is a must have when you get a h/o alt but this is cool to show it can help a stock alt. i remember getting my 370 amp alt load tested at a shop with out the big 3 done, and the guy at the shop told me strait up he put the load to the alt for a few sec cuz he was worried about burning up my stock wires.

that test showed absolutely nothing. that 1db can be chalked up as errors in your testing.. simply holding the phone a different way like u was could of caused that, having the phone close the the back seat could of changed that.

drgnhilord6900 this is the SPL lab USB meter on the same spot on the dash, this has nothing to do with a phone mic, this is an actual $400 pressure sensor on the dash that runs on android software or Windows, calibrated with the termlab. we use this meter to prep for all competitions, and is accurate within 1/10th of a db in the lanes, we before and after meter absolutely everything.
@drgnhilord6900
@drgnhilord6900 7 жыл бұрын
www.GPcarAudio.com even with the $400 meter that is not a big enough am out to say it was can ged by the big 3 upgrade. anything could of caused that minimal change. now I'm not saying a big 3 upgrade isn't a good idea, all I'm saying is, I don't think the cost and time for a 1db gain is worth it if that's the reason your going to do it because the change isn't significant.

I'm new to setting up subs, I know how to wire them but, how do I know what to set my head unit to for the settings like bass, treble, mid. I'm running 2 Rockford Fozgate Punch 12's. I am currently using a 400w Dual amp to power them, someone gave me a 1000 watt Xplod amp that I was thinking of upgrading to, but I don't really know where to set the crossover frequency or the gains, or the head unit settings. I don't have any fancy meters or money for them or anything so I don't know where to start tuning.

@Travis Hamler As far as I know everything in the doors is stock. It comes with the shaker 500 system, so one mid speaker and one smaller sub in the door. The mid is what I believe to be blown. no crossover settings that I see in the head unit, just basic like Bass, Treble.

@Travis Hamler Right now I'm using 4 gauge run from the engine compartment to the trunk, with a fuse by the battery. I'll have to try and make a video sometime of my set up and link you to it somehow. It's nothing fancy, but you sound like you really know your stuff so I'd love to get your opinion on my setup. I'm new to car audio, but am pretty electrical/mechanically savvy.
@Cmoney860
@Cmoney860 2 жыл бұрын
@Travis Hamler hey Travis, just came across your comment and thought I would run this by you. Cant hurt right? Worst case scenario is you dont respond. I recently purchased a one-owner, bone stock 1st Gen Toyota Sequoia. I am looking to upgrade some things on it. Starting with tossing those stock JBL 6.5 in the doors, adding a subwoofer/amp setup, and definitely need a new head unit. Really like the 11 inch Alpine Halo, but that alone is over a grand. But I been looking at Chinese knockoffs for half the price that actually have more to offer. Subs, I am thinking one JL 12inch, or possibly two 12's. The doors I am gonna stick with 6.5, just better. My thing is I want a clean looking setup, and do not want what I had in the early 90s, which was that trunk rattling bass. But I do want a nice deep tone. And with the size of this huge truck, i think a decent 12, like a JL w6 would do the trick. But that is pretty expensive in itself, without the amp. I say all that to ask you what would you run if you were going to do the truck for yourself, keeping sound quality and expense in mind? I wouldn't mind having you do the install since this is your fortē. I do not know your whereabouts, but I live in Los Angeles. Anyway, let me know what you recommend when you get a chance. Thanks bruh

So for any system the best thing is to make sure you are running good 4 gauge or better OFC cables as well as a good fuse block and battery terminal connections. Good rule for your fuse is 10 amps per 100 watts so if you have a 1000 watt amplifier then it's best to have a 100 amp fuse. You could go a little higher but remember the reason for the fuse is so it will blow if there is a surge that way it protects your amp. So if you go too high with the fuse it won't really help. I believe in having more than you need when it comes to cables so I always use 1/0 gauge wire. Don't worry about strands it matters more about how much actual copper is in the cable so make sure you get a good brand. Sky high audio makes really good cables and Spartan wires makes good cheap OFC welding cable and thats what I use. Then make sure you have good ground connections. I always go straight to the frame. For a 600 watt system that should be enough not to have a voltage drop. For anything over 1000 watts I would do the big 3. Some people use 4 gauge wire for that but again I believe in having more than you need so I would do at least 1/0 gauge and in mine I used 4/0 gauge that way I know it will handle anything I decide to install. You don't have to have a huge amp to do the big 3. It's worth it in any car even if you don't have a system at all. Like someone else said the car manufacturers put in the smallest cables they can to save money. On a smaller system though like a 600 watt you probably won't notice any kind of difference. Now for 1000-1600 watts if you do all the upgrades I listed then that should be fine. For any system above 1600 watts then I would start to look at a HO Alternator and/or a second battery and definitely upgrade the main battery. Optima batteries are really popular for this. There are a lot of shitty HO alternators out there so be careful. Mechman, JS Alternators & Autotech seem to all have really good ones. Stay away from the cheap Amazon ones. In fact unless you have the tools to test this stuff or unless you have seen someone else test it I'd stay away from anything cheap made. Cheap made crap will cost you more money in the long run. I know your comment was a while ago but I wanted to actually answer your question with some useful info instead of being condescending.

I'm not certain on the exact length you need for the power run there, if you measure it with a peice of string we can alwaya do a custom drop in kit for you. Just give us a call at the number on the website. 👍👍

John D he went from a 141 flat to a 142.4, that’s a 1.4 dB gain. Why don’t you do us all a favor and shut the fuck up yourself.
@landsurveyorNC
@landsurveyorNC 6 жыл бұрын
John D you serious when you say a 1.5 dB gain isn’t worth it? 1.5 dB for 50$ is crazy good. I hit a 153.5 last time if I was on the meter last season. It’d take a whole lot more than 50$ to get me to 155 lol.

db is exponential. it takes much smaller db increase to be noticeable to the human ear at higher levels. a 1db increase from say 50-51 is nothing but going from 140 to 141 is quite noticeable. in the firearms world people are always so suprised when a suppresor is rated for 21db reductions and they are like well that means my rifle will still be like 100db but they they shoot it and if you have ever shot a gun without ear pro you know it pretty much hurts... when you shoot with a suppressor and no ear pro the first time it becomes "practically silent"

jim davidson hi Jim, the measuring is coming from the SPL LAB pressure sensor located on the dash running on android software. This also runs on windows but makes metering more versatile on the go with the android software. This meter is calibrated spot on to the Term-Lab to the point that you can measure using the classic term lab calibration, pr the new magnum calibration.

You can also search comparison videos of the spl lab meters to the term lab, and see they are spot on.
