Unreal fish. I fished that venue many a time and my biggest is 7 and a half pounds from there and he nearly killed me to get him in so I can only imagine what you went through. It can be a very hot and cold spot but they tend to be big there when you hook up. Plenty other venues where you get more action on lug but those venues are in North Kerry where I am from. Saying that a fish like that is worth a year of blanks.Only a few lbs of the Irish record. Well done again.

Sorry for very late reply Declan, you are right about the hot and cold and unfortunately over the last two or three years its been very poor to the point where I had a change of venue this year for the first time in twenty or more years. But saying that I hope to back there next year , for me Brandon Bay is a magical place .

Well done and well played. A whopper of a bass. Bass numbers have dropped a bit around the irish coast but theres still one or two big ones; you've just got to get out 😉😉

Have you had much luck recently. I’m going next month. By the way very well done with that lovely bass

Not been over there for a good few years now as the fishing went from poor to very poor unfortunately, haven’t had many good reports that it’s improved much recently either, but it can all change and November month was always my favourite good luck with your fishing and just enjoy a beautiful place 👍

@@bassmanbass9649 that’s a real shame to hear that. I guess it’s commercial pressure unfortunately. But I’m going to enjoy no matter what I catch. I went there 24 years ago. I did have a 5lb bass on Stradbally and lots of Rays

@@bassmanbass9649 oh brilliant. I live in Redruth 😂. I went to Stradbally 24 years ago. We had bass up to 6lb and Small Eyed Ray up to 11lb. Hopefully if the weather is good next month I will be fishing Stradbally

Hi , just got back from a two week trip there, and to be honest it was very poor. The conditions where spot on, mild and a good swell but the fishing was the worst I have seen for a long time. Sorry for that news, and it could all change next week . Hope it works out better for you. One tip if things don't improve give Smerwick Harbour a try in the dark with Lug !! Let me know how it goes and good fishing.

A bass that size should be put back there breeding stock at that size. Do yo even know the age of that bass? The bass in Ireland were nearly wiped out because of over fishing. I've fished that beach and returned many a qualitIy bass. I know this video is old but this comment is to get people to respect the bass they catch today.

Do you know what? I hate being lectured to by the bass police. I've only killed three fish this season, bleeders, but I HATE being preached to by people like you. The way you are doing it is SO counterproductive. I first came across the Bass Society, or whatever they call themselves, at the Game Show, years ago. Withing two minutes they had started making me feel uncomfortable I wasn't returning every bass, and I ended up telling them why I wouldn't be joining them. I

He has a point. Big bass like that contribute a lot more to breeding than a 40cm fish would. Personally I think there should be an upper size limit and lower size limit to keeping bass let's say from 42cm-58cm.
