That was a GREAT lesson for Spirit. If you don't fight for it or hunt your own, you won't eat. And Shadow sassing Jackie's attempt to take some while Spirit watched was perfect too. "This is the real world, kiddo!" Shadow has been a stellar father.

Awesome. He showed her not only you have to defend your food but most importantly once she’s on her own she has to Consume here food Right away, she is used to just grabbing, clamoring over and picking at the Food with no urgency once so ever, Shadow on the other hand grabbed the Fish and Chowed immediately wasting no Precious time.. Incredible Parents she has.

I have seen this at another nest involving a single eaglet. It is probably one of the most important lessons they will learn in order to survive. This could not have played out better if they tried. Having Jackie try to steal it from Shadow was crucial to teaching Spirit what can happen. We will have to wait until they bring Spirit food next time if the lesson had worked. Life is not easy for them so they need to learn quick if they are going to have any chance at surviving. Thanx Cali.

Spirit, live and learn! When I saw Shadow do this to Simba I was shocked and upset. I thought it was so mean and selfish! I was sure Spirit would fight to get lunch back. Next time Spirit. Mom and Dad's life lessons for their precious girl 💖

BRAVO S&J 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾…. Jackie is normally the aggressor and defender of all the food the reaches the nest, but Shadow just showed Spirit how fierce she would have to be to survive w/o them. Other eagles or predators will do exactly what Spirit did (minus the small offering and patient demeanor). It’s a possibility that even J&S may have to chase her away from the nest one day. I hope Spirit got it.

I think Dad gets hungry too and even when he provides he still gets kicked out of the nest usually. So today, I'm glad he got what he needed first and then fed Spirit. Even Jackie left him alone. He meant business.

They were certainly trying to teach her to survive! They looked at each other J & S as if to say try Spirit, if they weren’t Jackie would have raised the entire tree roof off of the penthouse! 😂😂... Jackie had to step up and referee and tell Spirit to behave 😂... Especially since Spirit tries to steal every single fish brought to the nest..... i'm glad shadow nipped back at Jackie.... Shadow does all of the hard work and then both Jackie and Spirit try to steal the dinner ....he's had enough he needs to feed himself , he needs to stay strong and healthy in order to support the nest and his family ❤️.... see, he's such a good daddy he was feeding his baby girl....

Shadow has reclaimed what is his, even Jackie tried to step up and you can see both their reactions. I am so proud of him to stand up like that finally but I been so worried about him not eating being both have been stealing his catches lately. Plus this prepares Spirit for when she has to leave the nest, shes trying to lay claim but we all know the harsh reality is thats not going to happen.

Like all young ones, Spirit is going to have to learn that Mom and Dad's have to eat too.. Spirit is going to have to learn to do her part when big enough, and she's pretty doggone big.. ❤️ But like they say, so many young Eagles end up dying because they starve to death.. I think Shadow is trying to teach her that in the wild other Eagles won't be as forgiving and you have to fight for your food or it will get stolenfrom you. When she first took it he was happy, but then she just sat there and did nothing with it so he stole it back. If she was super hungry I doubt she would've allowed him to do that so easily. I think Jackie wanted to get it back for her but Shadow was like NO she needs to learn. Even he caved in the end and fed her some.

I very much agree. Shadow can eat a fish anytime he wants to off the nest without being bothered. He did that on purpose and told Jackie not to intervene with what he was doing.

I remember when Shadow taught Simba this lesson. Simba put up a fight & Shadow & Simba had somewhat of a tug of war over a fish. I remember the chat & myself upset with Shadow, asking in the chat why he was being so mean to Simba. The wise, informative mods, explained to us the life lesson Shadow was teaching Simba. I’ve been wondering if & when Shadow would have this teaching day with Spirit. Heartwarming to see the instincts & love these beautiful birds have…way to go Shadow. Young Spirit is being taught by the best…Jackie & Shadow.

It's like be quiet and eat for crying out loud. I think we are getting close to her fledging and the one good thing about her spunk is I know she will be a survivor out there once she does go on her journey.
