Were traveling to Big Bend National Park. We camp at Rancho Topanga Campground in the Terlingua Ghost Town. www.ranchotopanga.com/
We also have breakfast at Espresso Y Poco Mas in Terlingua, Texas. g.page/espresso-y-poco-mas?share
The main goal of this trip of was visit Big Bend National Park. We wanted to plan for our next trip to Big Bend when we backcountry camp in the National Park. We explore Croton Springs, Paint Gap, Grapevine Hills Road, Grapevine Sping, Old Maverick Road, Rattlesnake Mountain, Ocotillo Grove, and Terlingua Abajo.
We also hiked the Balanced Rock Trail, Boquillas Canyon Trail, and Santa Elena Canyon Trail.
We visit the Rio Grande Village, Cottonwood Campgroud, and Castolon Visitor Center. We also drive along the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive.
Kellie cooks up some amazing food on this trip on her Coleman Stove and Oven. She prepares Parmesan Polenta with Roasted Vegetables, and Egg, Bacon sliders on a english muffin with wild berry preserves.

Big Bend is probably my favorite place! I've been maybe 10 times - both in the middle of summer, during spring break and the first weekend in November. You hit some of the best places. Paint Gap #4 (you showed us 1, 2 & 3) is an awesome back country campsite. Our favorites, though, are McKinney Springs and La Noria #2 - both are on Old Ore Road (definitely 4wd). Love your videos - recent subscriber! Oh and BTW, those canyons are pronounced "Bo-KEY-us" and Santa "Uh-LAY-na.' Keep up the great work!

You can grocery shop at Cottonwood in Terlinqua. Long Draw Pizza right down the road from you. It is good all the locals go there. Great BBQ at DBs Rustic Iron. I appreciate that you pass on information about the area you are in. Big Bend was on my list for a road trip this year. But COVID-19 put and end to that. Great episode! I have a couple of suggestions for making things easier for airing down and backup. Boulder tools has a kit for airing down and once you set the pressure are super easy to use and are about $40 on Amazon. For airing up, the Smittybilt 2781 Compressor is awesome , it will air up a 35 tire from 16psi to 30 psi in a couple of mins. 4WP usually has the best price on them, around $130. Should cut your air up time down to 10mins.

Hey Cody and Kelly.....In Big Bend N.P eh!!!!You are about 10 hours drive from us. We visited Big Bend several years ago and had a blast....Don't know the date you were there, but here are a few tips....the River road to Presidio...Rt 118 is a very nice drive along the Rio Grande....And go up to the Chisos Mountain Lodge, its about 5200 feet elevation and cooler there...Also a campground, but don't know if it is open yet due to Covid .Go on two hikes around there...The Window Trail and the Lost Mine Trail...Also in Terlingua, visit the Starlight Theater for a good meal and the locals sitting on the porch...Loved your pics at Santa Elena Canyon and at Balenced Rock...was a nice hike there right...scramble over rocks at the end though....Would love to return to Big Bend....but how is Covid doing there???Anyway, all the best to you both from Hank and Pam from South Texas...

Thank you! We had found that out and share it at the end of this vlog. We had been pulled over for speeding by a really nice officer on the way south towards Alpine who had told us stock up in Alpine. But by the end of this first vlog we found Cottonwood General Store and shared to inside of the store and what they carried on our next vlog after this one. Really amazing store for sure!

The Air Force sent me to Texas and I didn't really appreciate it (I didn't like it at all). Now, I love it especially Big Bend and my favorite, Guadalupe National Park. I could easily spend my winters in Southern Texas.

Yes there are black bears and panthers. Keep your eyes open. Always carry plenty of water when hiking and wear appropriate footwear.

That tall plant with thorns is called Ocotillo. Cactus bloom in spring, in fall they have a fruit which is the red thing you saw.

Hi guys. This is the second video of yours I watched in the park area. You guys are fantastic, also, BTW, you guys eat well, great job on the fantastic meals. Nice info of the park and area. As I said before im leaving Tucson on 4.17.23 heading to this park. Your video will be very helpful to me. I travel solo in a Subaru forester. I have 11 inches of ground clearance. Do you think I will clear the old maverick trail road? Thanks so much for your great work. You are a great couple. ❤

We think so. Just carry gas with you it’s very long and you have to drive slow. You can always ask a ranger when your there. Have fun!

BLM is bureau of land management. It’s similar to National Forest lands. Public property. Bear boxes are a place to store your food so bears will not smell it
