In depth review of Big Blue 28W Solar charger. Including charging times with multiple size battery banks. Also testing out charging multiple devices at once. Have to keep batteries charged so I can show you all the fun!

Cheers for advising about the voltage indicator. I just ordered this from Amazon but was able to cancel the order before it took the funds out. I definitely want to be able to see the voltage on the one I get so that I can figure out the optimal position for the panels in the sun 🍻

I've tried mine for the first time this morning and it's nice and sunny at 7am. It has charged my Iphone 12 from 24% to 80% in a little over an hour. I should have watched this video first and charged my battery pack as I never thought about the damage it could've done to my phone.

Should be fine. Fast chargers chug juice into your phone. So I'm sure it's okay. But yes you should charge a battery and charge off the battery so you have solid stable power

Thank you for the review. In your opinion, what is the approx cost of charging that power bank via public electricity?

Was the power bank on the right connected first? I have the digital amp meter version and found that the first thing connected almost gets priority power and what ever is left over goes over to the second USB port. Just a theory is all as to why that was Charging a little faster.

I bought one of these, to add some charging capacity in addition to a similar 20W Sokoo portable panel I bought maybe 3 years ago. I was hoping it would perform at least as well as that older, lower power, panel. It did not. So I returned it to Amazon for a refund. I use these to charge a 10,000 mAh battery pack. In a day of constant sunlight, this panel couldn't even top off that battery bank from like 50% charged (as the only load plugged into the panel). Under the same (good/steady) sunlight conditions, I tried plugging in my pixel smartphone (as the only load). My phone charge chime chime would continuously ring on and off, because current was too low. That didn't happen with my older panel. It couldn't even seem to handle the very small load of my old Pebble Time smartwatch (charge cycling on and off, in strong, constant, sunlight). So I don't know . . . Maybe I got a defective unit (electronics). Maybe these high-efficiency cells are EXTREMELY sensitive to anything but absolutely perfect sunlight conditions. Very disappointing when folks seem to be giving these good ratings.

It charges fast if you use 2 usb a to usb c cable. My power banks charge in around 3 to 4 hrs . Copnnected to 2 usb port and 1 device.

Do the battery packs get hot sitting out in the sun while charging from the solar?
@nickgamble45442 жыл бұрын
Great video. I'd like to say tho don't use solar power banks. Hot and batteries don't mix well I had a few they went boom

The one I have it has a mini digital screen on it. Does this also store energy or only it transfers to other devices?

Only transfers

Sooo, if you hang this big blue by the carabiniere, then the pouch you don't like , will be facing down preventing any water or debris from getting in the pouch. I love the charger, I hang it off my back pack and anything I'm charging stay in my waterproof back pack .

Mine has no meter, just got. is it a fake?
@mansplaining5113 жыл бұрын
Probably not, mine didn't either. They offer 2 different styles. The 2 USB model has the meter and the 3 USB port does not.
@rui18633 жыл бұрын
@@BOOSTEDLASER The older model has the meter (4A max output, 2 USB ports); the newer model (4.8 Max output, 3 USB ports) does not have a meter.

Don't forget you need to angle your solar panels at 45 degrees to the sun for optimum charging. All these videos have them flat on a surface.
