I think it highlights that people can have a number of spiritual experiences along the way but there may be a big one that finally makes a lasting difference, like the one Bill had at Towns in 1934.

Excellent!! When talking about the White Light Experience Im surprised you didnt mention Bills Grandfather who had a Whitelight experience on top of Mount Aeolis and never drank again for 8 yrs until his death. I don’t think Bill left it out of his earlier versions by omission I think because it never really happened to him and he was looking for a place to put that story because he knew it was very powerful. Certainly if something like that did happen to him it would have been in there earlier versions of his story because it’s one of the most powerful things in his story. All through this presentation you have pointed out how Bill constructed powerful parables and there’s no reason to think this is an also one of them. Certainly he did have some deep spiritual transformation several times along the way and he found a way to include that in his story.

Bill W. stated in his talk in 1951 in Georgia, which is on youtube, that he met or came to know Jesus during his spiritual, white light experience in Towns Hospital. It is interesting to here him actually say 'Jesus'.
