Why are people hating on the xr 650 rider? Is it hard to believe that the 500 having more hp and being a lighter bike would out accelerate the xr? Smaller motors have been outperforming larger motors for some time now. They just just don't last as long.
@TrygveJohannSørensen7 күн бұрын
Correct. I have owned both xr650r, 450, 500, 530 exc and 690smc.. and a 450exc is still more frisky than the xr650r. Xr is a cool bike. But not as fast, its very heavy for its power.. 60hp crank and 45 wheel aint that much.. my 690 is pushin 70.4 wheel with dyno papers... (full evo 2 kit)

I have a 2004 Husaberg FS 450 E, that blue smoke from the exhaust is not really a problem, it happens if you go with the bike at full RPM wide open throttle, the reason is, the engine breather tube is connected to the air box directly, so if at high constant RPM the timing chain spits the oil into the breather tube, then to the carb, then to the engine.

Great video.. What went wrong on the Husaberg 650 in the end ?
@fowlerrudi18 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks! The 650 Berg had a small bolt in the camshaft sprocket that was meant to limit the travel of the decompressor. This backed out and got into the engine which in turn took out the timing chain and snapped it. So far it looks like damage may be limited, but case hasn't been cracked yet. Head and piston are fine.

I watched this video last summer and literally the NEXT DAY i had my fs650 out and had the exact same thing happen... The worst part is that I had a modified decompression installed which made the bolt (that fell out) useless but my mechanic left it in anyways. Hopefully this one is all back together by now. Glad i found this video again to share my misery haha

And in all the videos I have seen with and without rolling start on both tarmac and gravel the Yamaha WR450 with 42HP (the officiall number used when you pay tax for ithere in Norway) keeps up with the KTM EXC 500 all they way in acceleration and speed in drag race... But when they put WR450 on dyno it seems to have 44 - 48 HP at the real wheel while the EXC 500 only has 48-52 HP at the real wheel while the numbers I have seen say it has 62HP.
@92clintonr3 жыл бұрын
No. The 500 has never been stated to have 62. The old 525 RFS is what has 62. I have an old 525sx with the 6 speed conversion. It eats the newer 500's all day long.
@shavedape Жыл бұрын
@@92clintonr Aren't they all (530, 525, 501 and 500 from KTM/Husky) all still 510 cc? If some eat others all day long it may be due to the 6 speed transmission more than power levels. Though maybe they're tuned differently even if they have the same displacement/design.

Same thing happened with my husaberg fe650. Great bike feels like a 450 on weight, loads of torque, toped out at 114.mph with no wind. But seized more than once on me at 80+ mph when facing a strong head wind. I later found out that the cylinder water jacket didn't flow fast enough for high load/heat conditions. The problem could be fixed but I long abandoned it with the dealers mechanic. Thanks for this video Im thinking of getting the husaberg fe570 as my next thumper.

I love how everyones dismissing the clear winners, the ktm and camera bike. New technology allows bikes like those to make more power with less displacement, with fuel injection among other things. Though, i havent bought it yet but i'd love a BRP, my first big bike was a xr250r, 1993.... Best $500 i spent.

My fuel injected 2019 KTM 500 EXC F feels like it has a lot more power then my old Yamaha 2005 mod WR450F but on paper and on the dyno they are not that much different... But then again the KTM has about 6-7 kg less weight to drag with it :)

Yes XRs have one most of the Baja's. Also Honda has spent more money on XR than any other manufacturer for the Baja race's. But, look at the Paris Dakar races KTM'S, GasGas, BMW's and Honda's Also Kawasaki won guite few Baja races with the KX500. It really more about the manufacturers than any other bike being better that the other. If look at what the manufacturers are looking at, in the USA Honda will out spend any other manufacturer.

The 650R probably is the most reliable bike here due to large oil capacity and old stile valve train. Great low end and medium torque, but lacks in top end horsepower. You can install power up kits, high compression piston and hotter cams that will give it good top end power. But its still a little on the heavy side. I ride one as my daly rider because of its reliability.
