You're a brave woman 😂 Calatheas are one of my favorites I'm up to five different ones but I don't have those. They don't grow as quickly in the winter and those two have just had a severe shock so a lot of patience is needed. The most important is the filtered water no chlorine or fluoride. Diffused light but lots of it, I don't have enough windows...... I may have bought a few too many plants this fall, I hadn't bought any since maybe 2017 😂 it looks like a jungle in here now. 😳

Thanks for the advise.. I got that water conditioner now but I lost the smaller of the two pots.. I'm keeping an eye on the remaining pot. I love that for you.. I've had to cut down on plant shopping also because of the lack of space and windows also but I recently bought a few for my birthday 😁. I got a video on that coming soon.. can't wait to share with y'all what I picked up. 🤗

I love this video! I’ve tried to rehab plants before and eventually tossed them bc I didn’t see any change. You just taught me that perhaps I needed to have more patience and wait. Your plants will do well! Can’t wait to see them in another month or so 😊🪴

Aww thank you 🤗🙏🏾💚 yes, these plants, along with my children, have taught me a lot about patience. I figure, these plants were on the verge of dying so it doesn't hurt to just keep them around for a bit. I place them somewhere where they won't be taking up good real estate but still get what they need to bounce back, if they do.

Here's a tip for those picky calathea...use the drops made for aquariums to make water safe. Put a few drops in your watering can before watering. It will help with keep the tips from browning. Calathea are famous for that. They a pretty temperamental plants and they hate the chlorine and such in tap water

You are my soulmate: as long as there is still life in a plant, it will not be thrown away. Even if it takes months for a rhizome to sprout leaves again. Very important is to keep the soil constantly a little moist. Just once no water they look as yours do. So, selfwatering pots are recommended. As they often have spidermites I like to rinse them regularly under the shower. That's why I prefer mineral substrate. This way I can give them a shower every week without getting the substrate too wet.

Okay, first of all, I want to say it's super brave to try to rescue a calathea without having had even a healthy one before. I'm nowhere near a calathea expert but I've had a few so I've got at least a little bit of experience. Calatheas are absolute drama queens, they're very sensitive plants, but at the same time they're also VERY resilient. The first calathea I ever got was a pretty large calathea zebrina and it got thrips. Almost every single leaf was damaged beyond repair. I did something drastic and cut off ALL the leaves. Only a few stems left. And lo and behold, it pushed out a lot of new growth and the new baby leaves looked very healthy. Unfortunately the thrips destroyed what was left of them soon after but I was so impressed with how well it bounced back. Most important thing with these guys is water. Because they're so sensitive, they can't handle some of the substances present in tap water that are toxic to plants (they'll get crispy/brown/dying leaves, etc.), which is why distilled water is best for them. They also really, REALLY dislike drying out, that'll kill them quickly. As for humidity, consistency is more important for these guys than anything. I actually find my monsteras have a harder time with consistently lower humidity than my calatheas do. They'll adjust, they just need a little time. The thing I love so much about calatheas is actually how dramatic they are. They're great communicators. If something is wrong, you can be SURE they'll let you know haha. I once had mine in too bright a spot and it drooped like it was on the verge of death. Then I put it in a shady spot and it perked back up in an hour. Anyway I think I've rambled on enough about calathea. Just found your channel, this video was a lot of fun to watch, very cool to see the plants rescued and the video itself has such a nice, cosy vibe. Subscribed and will definitely be back to watch more!

Oh wow I love this! I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with calatheas 💚 I'm sorry to hear about your calathea. I pray that I don't get that issue with mine 🤞🏾I'm not going to even say their names on here!! 🤨 those critters are the only pests that trouble my plants from time to time.. I'm so over them! The concensus consensus seems to be exactly that.. calatheas are drama queens! So far, they're behaving and I hope it stays that way. I've taken note of all your tips and will post an update in a few months. Thanks again for watching and subscribing! I really appreciate your support. 🙏🏾💚🌱

@@AHAVA7YAH I hope everything goes well! they're such rewarding plants if you can get them to do well. most important thing for them I can recommend is to do a lot of research on them and their care requirements (especially the specific type of calathea you have) and to figure out what works best for you and your plants! as for pests, predatory mites/beneficial insects I've found are the easiest way to deal with them! it's hands off and stress-free. My first thrips infestation was the worst experience I've had with my plants, fought it for months spraying with neem oil and wiping off daily, and I seriously considered just getting rid of all the plants bc it was stressing me out that much. thankfully I stuck with them and by the time the next one rolled around I had heard of these mites and tried them, it worked wonders. now whenever I see thrips, I order the mites, put them on the leaves, and within weeks the problem is resolved! the mites stay on the leaves and they're too small to bother anyone, and when there are no more thrips the mites die out as well. highly recommend, there's different kind of predatory insects for different kinds of pests, but from what I've found it's by far the most effective and easiest way to deal with infestations. I'm rehabbing a thrips-infested Thai Constellation monstera with these mites and that's going super well!

You might actually have really good luck with this because you had to cut them back so hard they will acclimate to your environment. Better with the new growth coming in! I’m excited to see your journey with these girls…

They look so good, they r fussy. They don’t like tap water at all hence the dry leaves it burns them. U can get stress coat for fish tank water n add to ur water I learned that not to long ago. I might try again since i have learned this with calatheas.

Hopefully they just gave them to you for free. I would discard all potting soil, then chop them up, rinse well, then plant into new pot and clean potting soil. They’re kinda easy to grow for me. Jmo
