That's fantastic footage..!! Must be a heavy concentration there.I'm from NB and trapped on the Bartibog River where my great uncle John Connell captured those first moose in 1904.Shooting them is not that difficult-try capturing them alive..!!!50.00 a piece was big-big money in those days-that's what he got for them.You are so correct the patience is the key.I sure enjoy all your videos and appreciate you taking us all along on your adventures.
@NLGhostWolf9 жыл бұрын
+James G Smith thanks James much appreciated. I seen the footage of the moose they trapped in 1904 and shipped to Newfoundland. Not many moose around here, not like back on the Island. But I've been priming this area over the last few days when checking my snares. The bull must be wallowing on the edge of that bog bringing in the cows. I might go out this evening to see if any bulls are kicking around if the weather holds... Calling for snow and rain today. Again thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Very much appreciated. There are some dandy bulls in NB. I wonder that $50 would be now-a-days.

Isn't cool to see how they use those big paddles as sounding boards to reflect even minute sounds toward their ears. Excellent footage of my channel's name sakes!! Next time you should make yourself a hide down in one of them rock piles in the middle of the pit, away from your truck...get some 5 yard footage, LOL!! Thanks for showing us Charlie! - Jeff

+SwampDonkey530 I wasn't even planning on calling, but I always give a couple of calls when in moose country, I was going just to pull the 2 flip-up snares and try to get back for supper. Not two minutes after I gave the first couple of calls I heard the bull grunt back. I just grabbed my camera and set it on the tripod right there. I was actually thinking about going down in the woods where the two bulls came from and setting up a tree stand one evening if the weather cooperates. I would love to see if I can get the bulls right under my stand as if I was bow hunting.

Nice job calling them in like that... reminded me of moose hunting in Alberta a few years ago where they were like squirrels all around. me. BTW you said which moose to take? I'd try and drop the one on the road first due to it being easier to load up.

@NLGhostWolf9 жыл бұрын
+lhow2000 We always shot the young bulls 12 pts and under, but I personally believe the 4-6 pointers are the true trophies. Meat trophies and that is what we as hunters should be striving for. The Meat... Congrats on getting a true trophy moose on opening day I might add. Although I would like to hunt and harvest a mature bull one day, it's the meat bulls I'll be looking for the rest of the time. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Much appreciated.

First moose dead. Meat in pan. I haven't been well but managed to get out today. Got up late made a call set up. Shotgunners & dogs blew through. I decided to still hunt. I have a cow tag & I stalked every inch looking every way with every step until a 1000 lb cow was on my right where I looked only forward crap 25 yards to my right. This will possibly be my last year to moose hunt as 7 years to draw here. She would have been down with my rifle. 7 years for archery mule bucks now to Charlie! I dislike far drives to access open zones. Do you not have tag this season?
@NLGhostWolf9 жыл бұрын
+Tossdart Yes I do, but I'm not able to get back home to the zone where I have my tag as I have to save all my holidays to fly home to help watch over dad when mom goes to St. John's for her treatments. Had a tag last year too but I was the one with cancer then. 2 surgeries later and fingers crossed, I have no more cancer. I see the Doc on the morning of the 31 Oct. I hope you get your moose. When I was in Cold Lake AB I could just buy moose and mule buck tags over the counter for archery. Loved it.... I hear you about long drives to open areas and trying to tee up land to hunt on and a place to stay. It can be a royal pain in the butt.... I hope you get video of your moose hunting adventures.... Best of luck....
@Tossdart9 жыл бұрын
NLGhostWolf Man bad luck hope all will come good. Yesterday I had a call site set & shotgunners & dogs came through, ruined. Decided to still hunt. I am beating my head every step I did a 300 degree stare until a huge cow moose was there probably bedded. I saw a bed walked 10 steps & heard noise to right gone. I walked past her 25 yards. With rifle down but compound just crap is all. Hope it wasn't only chance. Be well & yours btglw there is next year.
