The crack era in Oakland, California during the 1980's-90's was a brutal time. If you wanted to have money you had to have heart. You also had to be prepared to deal with the consequences of being in that life. Prison, violence, and death has surrounded Big C from 25th ave in the Rollin 20's aka The Murder Dubbs for as long as he can remember. This is his story
Narrated By Jerry Law
Directed By Justin Johnson

Part 1
"my name is big c chris i'm from the dubs east oakland born and raised you know you have to understand that the recidivism rate is seventy percent it's the block right here twenty-five foot here man they hit us all over the place you know and they hit the corner on me right here ran up on me holy hit these corners they leaning you know what i'm saying and they come they smashing right up here jumping out the car and you got to hit them back fences back there that mean if you stand ten brothers in a row seven of them are going back to prison within the first 90 days this is where i went to prison many times at not just once but through photons if you do over 10 years in prison you are compared to a vet a army veteran that just came out of war coming back and now you get out that's when the real fight starts because you that's where the party started because you got to figure out how are you going to live just sink or swim they used to be the trumps but then they turned it turned into the murder dove that's what they call it now..."

I first learned of Big C by way of Bay Area rap music I was only 15,16 when I found a cassette at San Jose’s independent black owned “star records” that store has the best music in any genre and it was always packed because they catered to the people’s musical needs better than the big music chains...anyways I see a tape that keep grabbing my attention it was two brothers in beanies wearing blue shirts that reminded me of state issue prison shirts “next2kin” I bought the cassette and loved it..a few years later thier music producer became my producer as I also began trying to record rap music...big-c and Zoe the roasta man they could really give you an ear full of real game their music was filled with military mindedness and revolutionary bits with some street commentary too I always wished they would have recorded more music together-Big C always has some good wisdoms to share
