i think they should be left alone, as people who have bad intentions will hunt them, and now they know where they are. There are many all over the country, they are beautiful animals who should not be harmed

I've seen a couple of big cats near to where I live in North Wales. Both sightings happened in the daytime. Sometimes I go out walking with the dog at night in the countryside but I've never seen anything at night. They don't seem to want anything to do with us humans. When they see or hear us coming they run off.

Drove scraptoft lane in Leicester back in 2000. I’d just started at the DMU campus at scraptoft. I knew nothing about the big cats seen in this area. As I drove the lane early morning a big , what I thought was a mutant looking dog walked across the lane. It stopped and looked towards my car. I couldn’t believe it but it was a big black looking puma. After researching I found there had been a quite few big cat sightings in this area.

I see a black puma cat in day time trying to get dogs from a dog kennel. It then went across a field to wendover woods. That same cat got spotted walking up the hill near checkers the PM house in Buckinghamshire. Only big cat ive seen tho. Have heard a big cat near the golden ball which spooked the horses. They are 100% in the wild in UK

Undoubtedly there’s been big cats released in the UK, especially a few decades ago due to changes to the law. I somewhat doubt there’s a breeding population of them, they’d had to range over hundreds of miles to mate, although stranger things have happened.

She sensed danger on seeing the beast and called her dog back but then continued walking with her dog much closer and to within about 10 feet of it at most? If she called the dog back at the point she said, I would have thought the best route would be to turn back. I'd have asked her about what she was thinking in that moment and why she chose to keep going forward. Very strange the dog never sensed it even though it was so close. If she knew the precise day, historical weather could be checked for wind direction and strength. I am no expert on big cats but... I was intrigued by her confidence in claiming its age to within 2 years. Is that really possible to tell? I don't think she is making it up. If she was she'd have claimed the dog reacted in some way. It's possible that the cat wasn't physical (and was supernatural) or wasn't supernatural or physical and was a hallucination. Or an event induced in some way by the recent death of the other dog. Memory can also be fallible in all accounts. Did she see big brown eyes from the distance she claimed or is that a rewritten memory based on the closer observation when walking past it? An ultra sceptic might suggest she experienced pareidolia and perhaps that along with memories being so fallible to alteration over time through replaying them caused the cat to become more vivid and real.
@waydomriver2186
@waydomriver2186 Ай бұрын
I also thought why would any sane person continue towards it . And if she started to run the cats instincts would be to chase . Not fully convinced on this one sorry. Maybe pareidolia.

I've never seen a big cat but im certain they are in the UK, in 2011 we went to scotland to visit my brother in law and his family, he took us on a hike through Lethnot Glen mark, i was struggling and so was my 5 year old son, so we turned round to head back to the car, not long after we left the group i got the feeling we were being watched, it went very quiet you couldn't hear any birds or anything just our feet on the gravel and a little wind, up on the hill at the side of us every so often i could see the long grass move now and again, it took us nearly an hour to get back to the car, the whole time i had my son on my right hand side away from the hill and i picked up a huge heavy branch id found, it seemed to stop once we crossed a stream and the cover stopped as we were nearly back to the car, i never saw anything but i think about it often and i honestly think it was a big cat or maybe a dog but im sure something was stalking us.

The brown eyes are odd, black Leopards and Jaguars have green eyes. It was also odd that the dog didn't react to seeing and smelling this cat. Was the cat's attention on the woman or dog? Leopards in particular prey on domestic dogs, so was it eyeing the dog, but afraid of the human?

Like you I believe big cars run free on the Dyke. Why don't you set up a go fund me page. The purpose of the fund would be to raise cash for a tracker in to find the animals. It would be great to findout and study the big cats I don't know how much this would cost but a tracker could definitely find them.

@lyndaalbrecht7006

I believe that there are a few big black cats in your area of the UK and that they are descendants of exotic pets that were released by their owners after 1976. Most likely, they are jaguars of the black genetic mutation. What is the average lifespan of these animals? Is there a breeding population? I think of the UK as not having much space for these animals to thrive. We have a lot of cougars (aka panthers) here but they are so elusive that they are rarely seen. And they are never black, but always tawny in color. Cougars will attack humans, but it is a rare occurrence. What do the big cats in the UK prey upon? Deer? Rabbits? Is it legal to hunt them with guns? I suspect not. Hope someone can get a good photo of one, but mind how elusive they are. ✌️
@AnEmptyHeadFullProduction
@AnEmptyHeadFullProduction Ай бұрын
@lyndaalbrecht7006 Hi, I saw the back end of an animal running off down a hill. It was slender, tawny in colour, and a long tail. A moment before, a red deer ran around me and stopped, looked at me and back where it had just come from, it looked a couple of times, then ran another few hundred feet, then stopped to look again, after getting snaps of the deer, I jumped up on a large pile of rocks, amd saw this other animal run off down the hill. This was about 5 years ago. July 2023 saw a black cat jump over a wall like it was nothing. This wall was not a drystone wall but a tall (5ft I'd estimate) solid built wall. It was at night, but in the fullbeam of the headlights, I clearly saw a cat hunched up about to leap, then it was gone. It was not a house cat. Both these moments were in the lake district, I have pictures of sheep that have been mauled and scattered, punture wounds on the sheep's nozzles, holes where just heart or organs have been taken only, spines chewed through etc.. Although small in comparison to a lot of countries, there are millions of places these cats can lay up undetected here in the UK
@lyndaalbrecht7006
@lyndaalbrecht7006 Ай бұрын
@@AnEmptyHeadFullProduction TY for the info. Mountain lions (cougars) are numerous here in northern Idaho, so numerous back in the 1940’s that there was a bounty on them. The are never black, but black jaguars occur, but fairly rarely. All cats have amazing leaping ability. The red deer in the UK would be a prime food source. Were large cats ever native in the UK? I think that the ones being spotted are descendants of released or escaped exotic pets. It seems that such pets were quite popular for a time in the UK. Since they can’t be hunted for sport, a population could be thriving. They’re so elusive that even photos is difficult to do, but trail cams sometimes picture them. Again, TY for your reply.

Danes dyke is the tiniest little wedge of woodland in an area of farmed land that can only be appreciated from Google maps. Immediately to its left is an 18 hole golf course to its right 3 or 4 wheat fields then the village of Flamborough to its north again wheat fields for at least 4 miles and then in all directions. Not until you get past Hunmanby do you see livestock which would be an all you can eat buffet for a big cat, no dead sheep or cows. Add to that DD is one of the most frequently used places by hikers bike riding dog walking fly tippers doggers you name it no skeletons no attacks on people or pets hardly a habitat for a shy hungry appex predator. I'm not telling people what they have or haven't seen but come on weigh it up. Across the entire country wilderness is next to none existent everyone has a camera in their pocket and still after decades no conclusive evidence of big cats anywhere. Codswallop mate.

I wasn't trying to cause an argument I said I'm saying people haven't seen what they've seen or thought they have seen. I just put forward some logic to the argument. 1970 big cat sighting bridlington. 1983 big cat sighting Danes dyke. 1990 big cat sighting Cayton bay...... now either there's someone keeping big cats with a hole in the fence or there's a breeding population of panthers which are dependent on their mother for 2 years and live to 12 years old which is even more ridiculous than a constant stream of escapee over the last 54 years.
@paulsinclair6315
@paulsinclair6315 Ай бұрын
@@162tsb7 Thank you for the reply, be sure you have not caused any argument. It’s you opinion. There have been many more sightings in-between the dates you have highlighted 1970 1983 1990 I don’t think we have as you say a constant stream of escapees over the last 54 years, I suggest some of the sightings could be decedents of some of the cats set free in 1976. You are saying people haven't seen what they've seen or thought they have seen. Who are you to tell people what they have or have not seen. You also seem to think that there is no livestock in the area. There is lots of cattle, sheep and wild deer as well as pheasants’ rabbits and other game. I know from speaking to farmers, game keepers and the general public that they are been seen. As well as my own sighting several years ago on Newsham hill on the outskirts of Bempton.
