This is all good for Start Marine but in verse changes this info up quite a bit. An example of this is the Arrow Head. It’s the king of long range. After 600 meters the P6 damage drops below that of the Arrowhead. After 1800 meters the p6 round disappears. While the Arrow head is doing its full dance out to 3600 meters. Having landed shots at over 2000 meters it makes all difference. The P4-AR at what I consider medium range is horrible. Which makes me sad because I love that gun. Close range it’s okay but you’re often better with the custodian. Unless you expect to have to penetrate shields then go for the P4.

Great overview!! I am a little confused as to why shotguns not being effective at long rang is surprising though? Most games have shottys only only really worth using at close range.

The Grenades and magazines blocking shots is actually a feature and CIG has said they like how it works. And i agree with them. The time to kill in fps combat is so low for most of the guns that having a aspect of RNG if you miss and glance a piece of kit i think off sets the small time to kill

I think it would make sense if the game made sense around it. Grenades should explode. Magazines should break. Or items should break away. At the moment it's an excuse that they might use and nothing more I think.

it actually takes more than you think to shoot a grenade to explode in real life, but to the extent they can be shot in star citizen... sure i can meet you in the middle with that. I 100% agree magazines should take damage and fall off if hit. to add to that i think if your gun gets shot up (because your gun blocks bullets too) your gun should take damage and stop working... but then at what point does something like that start being a hinderance to the enjoyment of the game. I think the simple answer is just... aim better and i know get gud is not a good argument in 99% of cases but the average time to kill for most guns is like 4-6 rounds and most of them are fully automatic (the p4 fires at 800 rounds a minute for context) and that's with heavy armor on, so i'm of the mindset that putting on these things as sort of plates simply put's the time to kill from basically instant, to the person needs to aim a little and maybe the equipment catches it and the fight extends a little bit, because otherwise it's mind numbingly easy to kill someone, it's still easy now but the person can get lucky.

@@Stewey Real grenades don't explode when you shoot them unless you hit the fuse striker. One of the nice things about high explosives that we've used since the mid 20th century is they're really hard to set off, which is why you need a primary explosive to start them off. Since the fuse and striker is inside the center of the grenade, shooting it will just hit the casing and the explosives. You're more lightly to blow off the pin and just activate the striker and fuse (which would be amusing if there was an animation when this happened). So yes, IRL grenades can and do act as armor. On the other hand it might be rendered inoperable or have reduced functionality, and a mag that's shot should definitely become inoperable. Penetration isn't really modeled right now but in the future we will have AP rounds etc. It would be cool if you could use the attachments on your armor as a plate carrier or something for extra armor at the expense of less gear and more weight.

My problem is size 5 weapons cause those weapons are absolutely massive should be operated by two or 3 people instead of one because its too overpowered for one person to have that much power and control and size 5 weapons is too large for a person/player to use.

you da real mvp stewie, spaceships are nice and all but thery're only half of the game and you're pretty much carrying that entire half by yourself as far as content and information go. While shotguns might be bad choices for pvp I do enjoy them for pve especially with the current laggy state of things in the PU where you pretty much magdump every enemy just to make sure they fall down whenever the server catches up, shotgun rushing is very effective

Maybe that CIG is reviving Arena Commander they will fix this armor exploit. The best thing to do is submit an IC report (in the current patch) and then promote it to get as many upvotes as possible. I don't think CIG would consider this a critical bug so it needs a lot of upvotes to get a high priority.

IRL you can kill a turkey at 100 yards, shotguns are intended for that and closer ranges, the issue is 99.9% games get them wrong.

@@escapetarkov3838 I don’t think games get them wrong. I think it’s a conscious gameplay decision. If a shotgun is as good as a rifle are 100 yards, but more forgiving with aim, you instantly kill all the non-sniper rifles in the game. On the other side, the shotgun needs to be easier to use close range because again, you’d just use a rifle for everything.

@@GMRod Games often misrepresent firearms, especially for those with a genuine interest in them. In my opinion, it's game-breaking how poorly they depict Shotguns. Due to this, I refrain from using shotguns in Star Citizen. In reality, at a range of 100 yards, a shotgun would only guarantee a kill with a headshot in Tarkov, the only game that accurately simulates shotguns. Even then, the outcome can be inconsistent due to the randomness of projectiles. It's frustrating that, despite being set in a future setting, these games still struggle to portray elements like bullet physics and night vision convincingly. For my part, I rely on the reliable P6 in Star Citizen, as it's a one-shot wonder, especially when paired with a red dot sight, making solo missions in Jumptown a breeze.
