if you roll your glow plugs three times it makes it a hell of a lot easier, I got a 90 7.3 f350 and it'll start the first 15 seconds of starter even in -10, you can even get a heating pad on each side of the block to help save the rings on cold starts.
@josephsamsor16986 жыл бұрын
jay-H,Sui Juris hey that’s exactly what I did in my dad’s 7.3 in the mornings. I think our glow plugs might be weak or something because it struggles in Arizona during the winter, not nearly as cold as wherever you live but it definitely helps it start.
@terriwebb50935 жыл бұрын
Mine would start in the negatives to.. cycle glow plugs 2 or three times then shed start..never use either in something with glow plugs burns them right up.. will start hard from then on out no matter how many times you cycle it

These guys must like R&R starters and head gaskets. I will give you two of my secrets for starting cold Diesel engines and before I start I would like to stress be careful using flammable liquids and flashbacks even in cold weather. first thing you never use starting fluid in a Diesel engine. Second I use WD40 or some type of spray penetrating oil ; I like WD40 and the type of flame off it gives and what you do is get access to the intake system right at the engine down stream of the air cleaner as you crank the motor you spray WD40 into the engine as needed be careful hear people tend to overdose with fluid ; it doesn’t take a lot and you do not want to hydraulic the engine and they will light off every time . Another way is you can pour a little diesel fuel into the intake manifold about 1 oz max and light it on fire let it burn for a few seconds inside the intake manifold then crank the motor but again you do not want to hydraulic the engine or start some type of external fire hazard , I can not stress this enough be careful . If I had my own diesel with a lot of cold starts staring me in the face I would set up the engine intake system with some type of access port built into the intake like a o-ring plug to accomplish this issue, and save a lot of time. Again I cannot stress enough about taking great care in cold Diesel engine start ups you can do great harm to the engine and yourself if you do it wrong be careful when using any type of external method during this procedure. And have a fire extinguisher and procedures in place and ready to go if something goes wrong.
