I love this format Nico. Especially for those of us accross the pond who can't watch the event live unless we get up in the middle of the night. Thank both you & Lars for capturing the emotions of an event so well. Capturing your, Pierre's & Bruno's emotional reactions is what makes your videos so good. I will not judge your reaction as I have not invested that level of time, effort & money into preparing for an event, but the fact that you were willing to show your reaction rather than hide it speaks volumes about your integrity.

Feed back is simple. You guys do an AMAZING job covering the event. It’s great to see your ups and downs of emotions and struggles. It’s great also to have a global view on the event. You really make this PWA events so fun to watch. But this format is perfect. 3-5 min recaps that PWA does are really too short for fans like us.

respect nico, you did not win the event, but you won our hearts, i,m sure that 90% of the events fan club is watching your videos and not the official live streams. you add the human side to the event, you show the emotions and behind the scenes, so it encourages people to go and pick up their boards. dont worry bout the loss, because is something bad happens, something really good is coming. and i wanted to say thank you beacuse you somehow gave me windsurfing luck, as i started watchin your videos , i found a windsurfing board in the forest, i took it home, fixed it, fell in love with it. being the best windsurfer in the world takes not only the first place but the things you have brought to the sport. obviusly guys who won watched and learnt from your videos, how else whould they win. your the best, and i,m waiting for you to come to latvia. 🌊

Nico, i recall watching your physical fitness videos during covid. Your mental state and physical fitness is crucial when your body is pumping adrenaline. You asked for suggestions. ….Might be worth reviewing your physical / mental fitness program to build up and retain the energy you need. Mind you, easy for us to “ comment” as we sit on a couch wishing we could perform at half the level you guys do. Mega respect to you.

Thanks, Antoine! All good. I’m pretty fit. Especially over 2-3 days full power. As you could see in Pozo I almost won the last elimination. I just think I got pretty good at squeezing the last bit of energy out of myself every single time. So I go to extreme level of exhaustions. So I would say both mentally and physically I’m doing quite okay. Obviously, one can always do better and that is my approach 😊

This side-gig you have as youtube-vlogger takes some energy and concentration as well. As an old competitor on a national level I totally recognise the thought processes, the ups and downs, and the frustration when a small mishap throws you out (or someone rams into you for no (apparently) good reason) . And that is one of the bitter characteristics of sailing. I haven't experienced it to this degree in any other sport. But then again, if you guys weren't this invested, you probably wouldn't be any good 🙂. I watched the races and I found myself wanting to see what you could improve in the jibes, how to avoid other sailors (and their unpredictability). But who am I to give advice, yes? What I am saying is that the experience of PWA racing is both engaging and very entertaining. It's like being there. And with your video diary of the interactions between the competitors it's really, really good sports entertainment 👍😃🏄♂

Thanks Nico, Fuerteventura Freestyle and Slalom X were epic! My suggestions to make Winsdsurfing great again are the following: Slalom X is awesome with the dreaded sausage Freestyle action is awesome with the drone footage PWA is lacking a merchandise store with T-shits and Hoodies with some cool windsurfing logos POZO needs a Slalom X and freestyle contest Sylt needs a Slalom X and freestyle contest Some other great locations should be part of the PWA world tour like Alacati, Aruba, Bonaire, Cabarete and Brazil.

Great video as always. Shame about the crash. Overall I feel like all you top guys respect each other and it seems to be a very friendly vibe. No negative competitiveness. (Maybe we just don't see it in the videos). Random question: I see you holding the board by the foil mast when going in. How do you avoid getting sunscreen on the foil mast? It often happens to me and it is probably not great for performance / could cause ventilation, right?

100% agree Nico. If someone takes you out even if it’s an accident they should apologise. I’ve had the same situation racing slalom and called the guy out on the beach coz he didn’t even apologise. It’s bad sportsmanship to walk away and not apologise when you’ve screwed someone’s result.

Excellent coverage again Nico and Lars. I appreciate and enjoy it very much. You asked for feedback. There was a lot of emotion towards the guy that crashed in to you. He lost control over his gear and did not do it on purpose. It destroyed your backwing and he should have come towards you, yes. But wasn’t it you who crashed in to someone else in one of the first eleminations? You had nowhere to go, was your reaction, but still… All of the emotion, being exhausted and disappointed out the event, was projected on a fellow competitor. On a channel you created, with a lot of followers… What does it look like in retrospective?
@Nico_GER74 ай бұрын
It’s okay to have emotions. In fact I choose to have emotions. It would’ve been easy for me not to say anything, as I do most of the times. So, no projection. Just disappointed in disrespectful behavior. And then brushing it off with “we’ll talk about it over a beer” or “I don’t want to get emotional over it with you” is even more disrespectful. Might seem cool and professional for you, but shows zero character strengths and not owning the mistake.

Hi Nico and Lars, thank you both for the very nice and honest coverage of the events ! You really felt you were 'there'a little bit as a viewer, with the ups and downs and the high octane action. Just my two cents: Slalom X is perfect, as it was in fuerte, awesome breathtaking coverage. I think slalom foil needs to be transformed a little bit, to make it more attractive for the viewer, i'm not sure how though, a more technical course with more transitions ? Nico, i think more duration-sports (cardio) could help you (think triathlon), and maybe nutrition which "lasts longer, and gradually releases its energy" ? Kind regards from the Netherlands ps. I'm sorry about the sailing incident between you and dutch guy and his reaction afterwards. So on his behalf here is the apology: Sorry, it wasn't intentional but i was scared after it and at the time i could not 'man up' and chose to run away from it.

So i appreciate seeing this to reflect about that necessary interaction, and of couse, as long as you can keep your cool, that it doent lead to violence. Where is that like coach in an emergency?
