Both the horse and the rider were absolutely fine, carried on afterward like nothing happened!! Good win beating them 4-3, on to the semi-final! My Instagram: montgomerythe3rd

I can’t believe it- am so happy ! Someone on YT who is a polo player and also passionate about eventing !! I now have a house in Argentina , due to my love of polo ( despite being a pretty bad player ) but have been riding since I was 3 and am desperate to start eventing and jumping again. Haven’t done it for more than 30 years, except pop the odd polo pony over a jump or two when hacking. Am an eventing geek, and so happy to see I’m not alone with the love of both disciplines !!! Have a 3 year old who is from a rescue pony of mine here in Argentina, that I am starting with a view to jumper / eventer ( not that eventing is a thing here apart from military!) !

This is the first time I ever actually watched polo in action. Very interesting. Seems like a safe sport and not anymore hazardous as some other sports. My concern is the horses and from what I'm reading and seeing it appears they are well cared for and this sport aligns with what they would be doing in the wild in many ways anyway. I will explore this more.

it is a pretty hazardus sport. i have never really played polo but i have polox. they are very diffrent but this is what ik. you travle very quickly down a large feild with one hand and there is chance of collisons and ik in polox somone broke there ribs and etc by the ponies colliding

Uhhh... polo is VERY VERY dangerous...

But I can confirm that most horses are well taken care of. There may be some abusive people but as a person who owns horses, our horses are well taken care of, and so are the horses of all our polo friends we know

I’ve been to several polo matches as a spectator and have to say this was very exciting to see the action from the player’s POV. Great video!

it looks scary but a lot of fun and a big workout! it's interesting because i've never done polo. It looks kinda like a combination of soccer and golf.

It just looks like a rough, chaotic and confusing sport to me. But as far as I can see the horses their ears are facing forward and not pinned back so they seem excited to play, not scared or showing other signs that they feel unsafe. It's just not the type of sport I'd do.
@flower-ss2jt11 ай бұрын
It is a rough sport, and it takes months to learn the rules, like you can only hit a ball if you are on the line of the ball and no other pony is in the way - which is why the 'ride off' (or keep barging into their opponent to get the opponent off the line of the ball). All the rules are to limit injury to ponies - like not hitting a ball between the legs of a pony.

Not to mention the 2 fouls right before the crash.
@mayatantuwaya41652 жыл бұрын
glad horses and riders were ok, but it looks like you and #2 white caused the crash. Green was moving slow relative to the speed of the game but wasn’t stalling gameplay. Your #2 charged into him, mallet raised as if to say the line was his, but it wasn’t and he smeared the green player instead of riding to the near side. But you were right there next to your white player and rear-ended green as #2 was smearing. I’m not a great player by any means, but I hope that this footage shows you where the dangerous riding was on your part and that in the future, you realize that you don’t need to go running up on a player if they’re moving that slow and one of your players is already there. But again, everyone was fine and I hope you keep playing and keep improving!

Green turned on the ball without adequate time to do so. HPA rule: "The first player to the ball may not turn in front of a player on the LOB but if the player following checks or reduces speed the first player may then turn the ball in either direction providing that he maintains speed and continues the play. " The player following did not check or reduce speed. The following player was a fool though for protesting instead of make better effort to avoid collision.

@Apollo The Wolf are you joking me? i’m literally an equestrian. some polo games are awful to watch and if you had your research you would understand where i am coming from. therefor i do not like this particular “fun” in riding.
@Ezox24082 жыл бұрын
@@taylorallen4175 some polo games are awful to watch i agree, but there are always bad eggs in sport. in any sport there's always people who do not play correctly. generalising polo as an 'awful sport' is a bit much i feel. there are many amazing games where ponies and riders play extremely well. many ponies i've ridden go straight for the ball and even turn before you know to turn - they clearly love the game! As an equestrian im sure you know how there is always poor horsemanship somewhere (e.g. that famous german pentathlon rider this year). people like that should not and do not define a sport. we strive to get the 'bad' people out of sports like this. you also said "if you had your research you would understand where i'm coming from". please cite said research (whether it be youtube, websites, or personal experience). i'm genuinely curious, as i can't argue against something when i don't know exactly what you're making reference to! :)

@@taylorallen4175 That you are an equestrian doesn't render you the right to summarily dismiss a sport. This is a false equivalency. It must be tough being you.
