Thank you Don. You remember everyone, that's fed you. You have fed,more than any in the sport. Appreciation of the fan,is the greatest class act. Richard Petty signed autographs, till a normal mans hand would have fallen off,with that pearlly smile. You tour the museum, and tell dirt on,each car,and piece. You are a Class act. Tell John Force, follow that killer.

To your point. During the Gatornationals 92 year old Garlits was signing autographs and brought some of his car from the museum.

What a class act he is. My BIL ran a fuel dragster out of Union Grove, WI and met Don on a flight. Don had heard of his machine and my BIL was thrilled to be able to spend some time with him.

My father was Don's preferred starter at a private racetrack near Savannah, GA. Even did some welding for him. Then my father went on to drive stock cars racing against the legends of 60s, 70s & 80s including Richard. These old racers even the ones that time has forgotten. We're some of the smartest people I've ever met. Don's & Richard's phone call is an example. Brilliant men that could build anything, with huge COJONES! All had families at home, drove there hand built cars at 200ish mph with the tires & equipment they had back then. Looking back it was the greatest most insane time in motorsports. My hat is off to the warriors that made motorsports!

Sam Sommers #27. He was a Late Model Sportsman Champion of Georgia & South Carolina. Finished 2nd twice in National Points. Had a brief Winston Cup career & a very successful dirt track driver after NASCAR changed points & support for local tracks. He was featured on Lost Speedways episode, as one of the winningest racers at Myrtle Beach. He was also very well known among drivers, even drivers that came after his era. I met Tony Stewart once, I was shocked he knew my father's racing reputation. He still tells amazing stories of Butch Lindley , Leroy Yarborough , Red Farmer, Sam Ard, Harry Gant & David Pearson etc... He still reaches for the gear shifter while talking racing. It's in his soul & memories! One hell of a man!

He wrote several books. And these are books written in his own computer, probably with some editorial help, but like everything else, he does, is real. He actually completed the script of his movie and has a producer on the hook!
