I grew up listening to Dan as a kid in Yonkers New York, back when times were so much better than they are now, what a pleasure it was running across this, and some of the many other posts and videos of this wonderful man and his talent, and what a talent he had! What a shame we don't have that Talent today! So glad these memories will live on forever, so glad I was part of the real thing way back then, and so happy to hear them again today! Rest in peace my friend you made so many people so very happy! You were a true Class Act!

Grew up in Philadelphia where I had WFIL and WIBG presets on my car radio. But once I discovered WABC came in crystal clear, I never missed an afternoon with Dan Ingram. Truly the greatest top 40 DJ of all time, he was my own inspiration to get into radio. I never did top 40, but used his style of wit and translated it into country, where I did mornings. R.I.P. Dan.

I was working for a time at WICC-AM in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where Dan started out as Raye Taylor. On Dan's 35th radio anniversary I sent him a letter congratulating him, mentioning I was now behind the mic at the station where he started. He sent a wonderful reply about a year later.....my letter got crunched in the back of his desk drawer. I have it framed and has a place of honor in my studio at home. RIP Big Dan, there will never be another. :(

70's, 4:00 in the afternoon. I'd flip my car radio to WABC, Dan would come on and everything would be right in the world. I pull up snippets of him on KZbin to return to my precious past, made so by talent like this. I love Dan Ingram. Didn't understand how important a part of my life he was then...but I sure as hell do now.

As a teen I wanted to be a DJ like Big Dan and got a gig as a DJ on a college radio station when I learned how hard it was to be creative and entertaining. I lacked the talent this good man had. I remembered taking a lunch break late in the day just so I could pick up a half hour of his show. He was the simply, the best with a sense of timing and humor unmatched during the greatest time of rock radio. Sadly, now all we have left is cousin Brucie and his submarine races.

Oct 1996. Ingram was on CBS FM. Harry Harrison Had Tragicaly Just Lost His Son. Ingram Was Emotional. He Opened His Saturday Show With Some Brief, Touching Words On The Tragedy. Then Right on Cue Percy Faith Theme From A Summer Place Started to Play. It Brought Me To Tears. At End Of That Song. Ingram Said " Well, They Pay Me To Do A Show So Let's Do It". Art, I admire all the work you've done to preserve radio history by video taping so many of the giants in this industry. I love it that you take a board feed for the audio to obtain the best possible sound. I first saw your work when Harry Harrison sent me his collection of video tapes to transfer to DVD for him back in 2006. You are a master at your craft and a true "friend of radio." I've been watching through some of your videos you've posted here and really appreciate the time and energy you spent capturing these moments. Thank you so much. -- Larry Ware from Peoria, IL. P.S. While I never heard most of the Y talent off-air when they were popular, it's been nice to see their work through your recording efforts. I really enjoyed this snapshot of Dan Ingram. He was a true original.
