Not nominating dlc’s for game of the year isn’t punishing dlc’s. The entire point is to celebrate the best new game of that year it doesn’t make sense for the best game of the year to be an expansion to a game released years ago (especially one that already won goty). What should exist is a best dlc of the year because we’ve been consistently getting banger expansions

"Funny" thing is, there used to be a Best DLC/Expansion category all the way back to when the show was still VGA on Spike TV, I vividly remember Far Cry: Blood Dragon winning it in 2013, but they removed for some reason and refuses to bring it back

DLC/xpacks shouldn't be nominated because more than half of what they are was created in a previous year. Only independent games. Rebirth is an independent game, it used the same engine and some assets, but they redid the combat, world, and controls and everything. Elden ring SotE is literally just more content for an existing game.

to be honest, last 3 rounds she decide to not put snake behind Behemoth which is the big mistake because 1. it give a chance for ludwig snake to snipe it and serve no snipe in the end 2. Snake less likely to shoot more due to Jellyfish stat lower than Behemoth

36:45 i will have everybody knows that MLBB is only second to League in viewerships among the nominee. At the EWC, MLBB got more prize cut and viewership than League. But T1 and Worlds was a goliath that even MLBB couldnt comprehend. Also, MLBB is what Wildrift aspires to be and WR couldnt even stand a chance. Their playerbase and esports scene pale in comparison (even during WR's peak which was nothing). Now they are further done dirty by Tencent with the global release of Honors of Kings (HoK). Ngl, Ludwig done MLBB dirty by looking at a random shorts

I don’t think prize pool is significant when comparing it to league lol. MLBB has a lot of viewership in the sea region no doubt but most tournament beat league prize pool. League players gets pay way more by their actual salary than prize pool like cs/dota2/etc.

I agree with Lud on DLC. It would be unfair if it’s not included if the quality of the DLC warrants it. Being it’s own standalone game or not is just semantic, and we should just look at the content of it.

I disagree. Let’s say hypothetically it wins and someone is convinced to play it because of that. Is it fair that they have to buy and play the original Elden ring first? Not only are they paying $100 to presumably only play shadow of the erdtree, but they might not even want to play the original. It’s behind a two layer paywall AND piggybacks very literally (as in can’t run without) off the original.

@ That problem is unfortunate, and I agree that it should be taken account just like it should be taken account the fact that SoTE shares the same base combat, engine, mechanic with Elden Ring. The thing is, SoTE is literally the highest rated game of 2024. Even if we take few points off of it, it still isn’t unwarranted for it to be nominated. I do think it shouldn’t win the award when there are 3 games rated very closely to SoTE, but nomination is fair. Just like Ludwig said, in an extreme hypothetical, if a dev spent 5 years making a DLC, and created the greatest gaming content of all time, I think it’s silly and unfair if it’s not considered for game of the year just because it’s not a standalone.
