I loved Dottie. My maternal grandfather, my Mom, and I loved her but my grandmother didn't. I remember Mom singing "Country Sunshine" (she died in 2017) as a little girl. Michele Lee turned an excellent performance and should have won an Emmy. I never get tired of watching this movie. She and Kenny Rogers made great songs together; Every Time Two Fools Collide, What are We Doing in Love? and others. RIP Dottie and Kenny.

@@groverdarvin5527 Yeah, that was one of the reasons. My grandad, Mom, and I never cared; we loved her music!! Dolly Parton and, later, Shania Twain and Faith Hill also glammed up, and I love their songs too. Dottie certainly did pave the way for Shania and Faith, and later Taylor Swift.

The courage she showed at age 17 to take it upon herself to report her father’s abuses. Particularly in that day and time, it’s just astounding. I bet the fact that she was going to be leaving for music college and not able to protect her siblings prompted it.

When you have a partner that doesn't align with your big destiny is always a trouble. The woman from her story was everything good a woman could be as a lady, a wife and a mother. Her first husband, I don't know what to say about him. It's so unfortunate. . . His leaving her dealt her a big blow. . . It's really tough being an ideal wife, a lady, mother, a wife and a career lady. . . Her story brought tears to my eyes. . . Life lessons, when you get up there and have all the financial breakthrough you dreamed of, invest and spend wisely. . . May her gentle soul continue to rest in peace. 💚💚💚

You know what ? It's the easiest thing to do, just open yourself up and let the truth come seeping out. Holding it in is much harder. It's the consequences that can be tough but it really is a huge relief. I cried the first 50 times but it got easier and slowly I'm getting my power back.
@mumvictoria27572 жыл бұрын
D4 Cyneburg.. I totally agree about her abuser father. I figured it was something like that when she first was reluctant to talk to Patsy Cline about it. It takes a lot of courage to speak up and confront. Much of the time people just don't want to hear about it, especially family, or they don't believe you

Dottie was one of those very rare singers who had pain in her voice that was so authentic when she sang. There are a lot of great singers out there, but very few can make you feel what they are singing and have you feel as if they are singing to you. Dottie was one of those rare singers. When Dottie got her second wind in the late 70's thru to the 80's, and put out some great songs, I remember reading an article that she was supposed to record a duet with Kenny Rogers- that song was "We've Got Tonight". The two had recorded duet albums together, so this was expected to be a hit for them, but unfortunately, in 1983 EMI wanted a new up and coming singer, Sheena Easton, to have a cross over hit and enter the country music arena. Dottie had recorded it as a solo already in 1979 and it is one of the best songs she ever recorded. Check it out-----> kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3iufYdmhKqsnqs

Powerful movie. Only a few minutes into the movie and we find out about her horrible father. We are a savage species. I just could not watch anymore. It was almost as heart breaking as Bambi. And I never finished watching that movie either.

Yeah but Bambi was very sad because her mommy was so innocent. I’ve never believed in hunting or killing deer or any animals because of Bambi!!😢💔

@@MargieVarner44 - just watched a YT travel video about Haiti. Children are commonly kidnapped right off the school bus and made into sex slaves. No one rescues them. No parents, no police, no one. It hurts just living and knowing. Sometimes I can barely breath. Perhaps this is hell.

Thanks for sharing, loved it. Got to dance with Shelly once at the mirror room wasn’t even old enough to be there. Some things just happen. By the way eyes got blurry at the end.

Daniel ~ maybe an odd question, but, do you have ancestors from Breathitt County Ky? I recognize that last name from where my Sewell ancestors are from.

My eyes got blurry too. I remember the accident when she died. We couldn’t believe it. It was hard on Shelly😢

When a woman is very pretty and intelligent, and then marry 2 men who weren't up to her caliber, then add alcohol and or drugs, her life will be tragic. Unless you have been there and watch everything go up in flames, you will never understand a woman like this. No one deserves what she went through. When the dreams come tumbling down, there's usually no one around to make things right. The tough part is picking yourself up again and making a better life. Dottie would have done that, she was taken too soon.

So Dottie west Patsy cline and Loretta Lynn were all friends
@kevinashwood21462 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I didn't know that they were all 3 best friends! Three talented ladies being best friends - WOW. Patsy grew up in Winchester, VA which is where I was born & raised. In fact, she lived not more than 3 blocks away on Kent Street. I lived on Braddock Street with my younger sister, brother & parents. I met Patsy @ Gaunt's Drug Store when she worked there as a soda jerk. My father took me there to get a milkshake & he made me shake her hand & introduce myself. I was only 7 or 8 at the time, but I still remember it. I'm 60 now, but I felt I was a little rude to her. I have, at one point, had all her albums. And Dottie & Loretta - what can I say? THE BEST!

yeah absolutely I’ve been married for 32years I was 24 and she was 20. She got cancer in 2020 I was totally lost without her. She took a major hit the treatment was horrible for her. I could do nothing to change any thing so I felt helpless.. I miss her everyday. Mothers are the glue that holds everyone together. seeing this makes me miss her even more I come to this page all the time just to have that nostalgia 🥺😢😢
