Pre-heat oven to 425, rinse the sprouts, pat them dry, cut into halves or quarters, toss with a bit of olive oil, spread them out on a baking sheet, cook for 10 mins then toss them around, cook for 10 minute increments until they are 'crispy' on the edges (even 'burnt' looking...I promise they don't taste burnt), add salt/pepper to taste, then enjoy! They are addictive roasted like that and my family eats them like popcorn! Good luck!

Hi Crazy Pieces! Something my family did when I was little was to buy the snacks of the month (candy, chips, crackers, etc) and divide them equally for each kid, so my siblings and I would each have like 4 bags of chips, 4 packs of cookies, etc (don't remember the exact numbers, I guess every family should decide that). Everything was stored in separate bags one for each kid and we knew those snacks were just for us and they had to last for the whole month. We could either eat everything on the first 3 days and eat only the healthier options that we always had available for the rest of the month or think about how we wanted to save them for a month. It made us stop fighting over who could eat each snack and we also learned how to be responsible and more aware of what we were eating. I think I learned a lot from that experience and nowadays I enjoy unhealthy snacks once in a while but they are not part of my daily diet.

My mom use to this. She gave each of us like a plastic box, she called them "tuck boxes" because it was snacks from the Tuckshop. Then she would fill it with snacks and that was our allocation for the month. If you ate it all on day 1 - shame for you. We learned that pretty fast .

I’m surprised even with the big grocery stores they don’t seem to have a gluten free isle and a vegan Isle? It’s very standard where I live despite the super markets being much smaller. I hope it become more common everywhere so people with allergies and other life styles get more options :)

I find walmart has the best selection on gluten free otherwise u have to hunt for it. Because i dont drive a d have to take a bus its hard to get them on my walker. So i payed the 98.00 a year and i can have free delivery as long as i spend 35.00 each time. Easy with gluten free products. Im also lactose free so i know how Hanna and Halie feel. Most of the time i get what i order once in a while they are out but that is getting better as more products are coming out gluten free. Now i wish restaurants would catch up. So if i get invited out with friends i could go.

It would be really interesting to know how much you pay each month for groceries. If you add all the stores and times go go shopping. And also other expenses such as clothing, phones, allowances for the kids etc. don’t know if you’d consider it too private, but it would be really interesting!

Those Siete almond flour tortillas are the best. We're not gluten free but they are made really well and Costco's price is so good. We use the rice ramen too! If you make a big batch of ramen, I suggest only adding blocks as you eat because they can overcook but they're so good. Also, brussel sprouts are THE BEST in a Dijon mustard type glaze! Get them nice and crispy!

I shop on weekly basis, but of course when it's the first of the month we stock on meat and chicken(definitely not from a grocery store but from a trusted butcher even if it's more costly) then we stock on milk, cereal, frozen food, cheese, bread, soda and things that don't go bad. As for snacks we do those on weekly basis and we get what we plan to eat the week. It usually includes chips and snacks and vegetables. It's not something we used to do before covid. We had an empty fridge and apart for snacks empty cupboards. We used to buy daily or eat out but now it's expensive to do that everyday and it's good system

Over the years I've expanded but still struggle. My boys play football and do wrestling and they 14, 13, and 13 as of yesterday. I really want to get better at making new foods and healthier foods. BRUSSEL SPROUT HACK! They are little cabbages Aaron not lettuce 🤣🤣🤣🤦🏻♀️ Crystal thanks for the mom hack on medication! Brussel sprout hack for you! Dice bacon, onions and some FRESH garlic (not the minced in the jar). Put in the skillet those three ingredients. Sauté them till bacon is 1/2 cooked. Wash and cut Brussel sprouts in half (cut off bottom part it’s hard and bitter) put them in the pan with the other ingredients. (Add butter if needed) Fry them up until tender. You can add a little water and cover to get them cooked faster. A little like 1/4 cup (that’s if your cooking the whole bag) now when you’re done cooking them. Take some grated cheese and cover them with it. Let it melt. You can serve as soon as it’s melted!! Everyone including kids has enjoyed them this way!!
