If memory serves this was the first Big Finish to feature Mel. DWM described very well how she's written here: 'then there's Melanie Bush. Hair as Red as the Morning Sun. Who never gives up. Never loses hope. And never surrenders to the cruel tyranny of the web of time. Even when the Doctor does. Why didn't we love her from the beginning?'

Maybe 10 was so desperate to get out of Pompeii because he was worried time had caught up with him.

Dude.... you forgot the AMAZING scene with Mel in the Brothel. That alone is worth the download price.

I must say your an excellent sales person. Despite having already spent a good chunk on my monthly budget on big finish your convincing me to get more. Doesnt help that earlier audio stories are actually pretty cheap.

I love your videos, very entertaining,it’s like having the stories without having the stories. I have a suggestion. Unbounds:Full Fathom Five. A nice and dark, sinister story

Thanks for the suggestion I really enjoyed it especially the ending, although of the timeless child is a thing in that continuity she'd have been there for a while

@@thatDamnAusWhoFan indeed,I have a theory that that Doctor was that universes war Doctor, which would explain the whole ‘ends justifying the means’ thing

The Remake version is literally the polar opposite of this far superior version. The Doctor is sworn to uphold the laws of Time even unto death and cannot willfully create a paradox. His death, Mel's and the entire city's are incidental to that oath. He finds a sneaky way out of it because Mel reminds him that escaping traps is what he does and this is just another trap. The Remake is tied heavily into the modern myth of the Doctor actually being interested in saving people and has him literally break all his oaths to intentionally deify himself just because some dozy bint from Chiswick said so.

Nah mate. I do admit this one is better, but the doctor doesnt resign himself to his fait because hes sworn to uphold the laws of time. Hes been breaking them constantly for several incarnations at this point. Hes a time lord renegade, antithetical to all the time lords hold dear. He is resigned to his fate because he can't see a way out of it without making a paradox. It took Mel to show him theres a way out

@@thatDamnAusWhoFan Keeping to the laws of Time IS avoiding paradox. He even says at one point that as a Time Lord its built into his very being. Even renegades have to follow the intrinsic rules.
