Just visited chilka 2 days back and we were completely got cheated by these persons. Lost 2500 rs. Sometimes even when we are educated we tend to trust these fraudulent activities. Because of Phani cyclone Places of coastal orissa doesnt have proper network and couldnt even check about these activities online. Odisha Government should stop these fraudulent activities by keeping up caution posters near the Boating ticket counter. Most importantly need commonsense which i lacked at that time. Anyway nice informative video for the rest of the people visiting Chilka lake.

Yes you're right. It's a sad situation but frauds are everywhere. If we go to Dwarka, Vrindavan, Haridwar, Benares same thing happens. Haridwar is the worst, people don't even let you contemplate peacefully on the river banks. Some or the other panda or begging woman keeps pestering you. Rishikesh is the best in this regard. No one bothers you there. Haven't been to Jagannath yet but after these horror stories I dont want to go. Pilgrimages are for peace and solitude but that kind of thing leaves a horrible impression on your mind. Kerala temples are also better in that regard that at least they don't try to fleece you. Though they can be more rude in another way. But anyway.

Actually, my friends and I were planning to go to India for a trip but after we heard about the vast number of scams there we decided to go to another country. It is sad because we really wanted to get to know the culture but it would be a headache with all these scammers around trying to push you to buy things.
