I really enjoyed Nettle and Bone! I just got three Dutch indie books from a fantasy festival. It's technically a music festival, but it's so much more than that. Lots and lots of nerd stuff, including an authors market, so all three are signed. I usually I don't read much in Dutch, because I don't like reading translated from English (from languages I don't speak is fine) and I've never been able to find anyway where you can filter on that, so it was great to be able to buy directly from the authors. I have no idea if they've been translated though, so I don't know if recommending them is much use hahaha. And I also got a huge skin of leather, and I already had bookbinding glue, so I can't wait to give that a try as well.

The long story short is that I hear the sunspot was supposed to be a two volumes series, but then the author has been asked to write some sort of sequel/spin off sequence and so Limit was created. Basically, the main story is the first two volumes. The Limit bit is its official completion :) I hope it makes sense ahah

"That is not dead, which can eternal lie / And with strange aeons even death may die." - HP Lovecraft, The Nameless City. The Mysteries of Udolpho is Anne Radcliffe's magnum opus. It made her name a household word back in 1794. Its a slow burn and full of poetry but amply rewarding and full of beautiful prose - a classic and a masterpiece in every sense of those terms. I read it back in the 80s then again in about 2000. btw Did you ever finish Christopher Paolini's To Sleep in a Sea of Stars and if so, did you review it ? 🦇
@AFrolicThroughFiction2 жыл бұрын
I’m excited to revisit both Lovecraft and Radcliffe! I just know the two of them will win me with their words. I never actually started To Sleep in a Sea of Stars! It was sent to me unsolicited by the publisher and while I do want to read it eventually, scifi books are few and far between for me - especially of that size! It has been getting rave reviews though from what I’ve seen
