WWF (now WWE) wrestler Big John Studd being interviewed on Toronto Rocks (probably 1985 or 1986? If you know for sure, please comment below!) by Joel Goldberg, as Studd was in town to be part of that year's Christmas show at the International Centre.

I got a chance to meet both him and King Kong Bundy when they walked into my auto body tech school back in the early 80's. Turns out my teacher heard myself and others in my class talking about wrestling and he told his sister in law, who was a secretary at the WWWF offices about it and they showed. What we didn't know, was our teacher was good friends with these 2 legends. What a Great day it was.

Didn't know he was so nice and down to earth. He was an MP in the US Army and served in Vietnam also. RIP big man.

John Studd was way too nice for the wrestling business. He was a heel aka villian, in all interviews like this he was nice and extremely polite, you would never expect him to be the one who cut Andre's hair or be part of the plot to turn Orndorff against Hogan. He put over Hogan big time here. I miss Big John!

This was 1986. Studd mentioned his upcoming role in the Disney movie Double Agent. That aired on ABC March 29, 1987 the same night as WrestleMania 3.

Thanks for sharing! Outside of the *REAL* heat that Studd had w/ Andre, I've more or less heard _everyone_ speak very highly of Studd. We have a local DJ here in New Jersey (Big Joe Henry) who always mentions his friend,....Big John Studd,....around his birthday anniversary, every year. Continue to RIP, Big Johnn Studd!

My mum, who is all of 5 feet 3, Adelaide airport Australia and waiting to collect her bags. An arm went over her head, grabbed a bag and clear pulled it over her. She turned and saw the biggest human she’s ever seen, Big John Stud. She described his gold horse necklace and how he was so wide he was “vast”.

Met him when i was around 8 years old. He was a mean heel at that time with Mid-Atlantic. I believe he was wrestling Black Jack Mulligan that night. My mom knew one of the ushers who let a few of us kids go down ringside, this was about 2 hours or so before the matches. John came out just to see what was going on, and talked with us a bit. One of the nicest guys I've ever met. Back then the guys got into trouble if they stepped out of character, but he was so nice to us.

You know, I'll never be able to understand why Andre the Giant hated Big John Studd. John is a very big very nice guy. He never did anything to Andre except work with him in the ring. It didn't matter who was the biggest, it matters who was the best.

Andre disliked John because Studd was using Andre's Gimmick stepping over the top rope. Andre told him to stop stealing his bit. But John refused to duck through the ropes. So if you watch their matches Andre manhandles john every chance he got.

As a lot of people say, Studd was just far too nice to be in the wrestling business and this interview does back up that a little (he is suppose to be a heel at this point, and he is far to face here)
