Awesome tip - thank you so much! To transfer a few tracks from one existing project to another I have been doing it the loooong way - copying the Channel Strip settings, then the Track content, then the Sends etc for each track separately, one by one to rebuild everything in the second project. It takes longer than you'd think because every time I switch back and forth between the projects, Logic has to reload everything! This will save me a couple of hours today, and more than a dozen hours a month!

This is brilliant!!! I’ve done this the other way round in the past by saving a new version of the project and then going about deleting all the things that are unneeded. This is not only quicker but waaaay cleaner / tidier. Legend! 💪😎👍

This is super helpful Jon! Thank you! Prior to this I could copy said tracks and then paste in original position into said project. However, when I did this tonight it worked once but when I had to it again I received an error saying the tracks are now protected. So weird. But now, this will be my new method!

Jon - Thank you - I have subscribed just on the strength of this vid! Can you use this function to import fx, virtual instruments etc into an existing song at a new SPL that does not overwrite the existing tempo and song parts that are already there? Here's hoping...

Thanks for the sub! You can import all those things, but it'll just create new tracks. It won't overwrite anything.

That's great time saving .ill try it . By the way in logic pro x when i bounce midi to audio or rec analog synth . The audio is not on the grids like the midi there's latency i tried evrething no solution .maybe you know about it ? ( that latency make me think to switch to cubase 12 ) thank you .

I can't help you with that, I've had the same with external synths and just moved it into time. This doesn't seem to be an area where Logic is particularly strong for some reason.

just imported a bunch of buses from a client project into my mix template and its screwed up all my existing I/O bus labeling/routing. I left the "Keep Bus Numbers" column checkbox unchecked (I think you can only see this column if you are importing Buses from a project made on another Mac and with different bus numbering/labeling). Do you know how to import tracks without it affecting my existing bus numbering / labels?

Logic is much more powerful than Audacity but horribly poor ergonomics. Copying & pasting audio files into any section of an audio file in Audacity is as easy in a word processor. Unfortunately it crashes on my Mac so I'm stuck with Logic

That might demonstrate the point: I virtually never cut and paste in Logic - it’s either alt drag, or copy section between locators which is super clean and straightforward (to me)
