It took a while to figure out what was going on, I woke up one morning at like 3 am. and caught them with the pickup truck backed up to the back door as they were loading the freezer up, hoping we wouldn't figure it out. Our processor guy also ran the local butcher shop, so he would process your cow for a percentage of the meat. My grandfather had a big goat dairy and I asked my older brothers once, if we ever had goat meat, they kept saying we never did, but I reminded them that our grandparents were always making "stew" and they didn't raise cows, so I'm sure we were having goat stew all the time they just never called it that.

We included the Vet Bills, Feed (Grain), Processing, etc. We have a mobile processors come to our residence with of course a FDA Inspector. We have make appointments for both. The mobile processor has a 18 wheeler truck and while he's do his thing. The FDA Inspector is doing his job. Our kids are older on their own now. So we split the meat with relatives, as well as donate some to a local food shelter. NOthing wrong with raising your own meat animals. Provided he have the land and facilities to do it. I have to go to the store. I was spoiled where we used to live. My back door across the little side neighbor owned a meat processing plant. He gave us wholesale prices on cases of three pound chickens form a local man, Whenever he really knew the farmers, he would trade his cost for a cow r two. Then, we were allowed wholesale price on that and pork as well God Bless

I agree with you 100 percent. Nobody ever sheds a tear for production meat and the way they’re raised, it’s more of a mercy killing when they’re processed. People need to appreciate the things they have and there’s no better time to learn that than when you’re a kid.

I live in an apartment in Ohio, just waiting on a delivery of my new freezer in July. I purchased it in April buy the way, anyway I can not wait to get my butchered beef. You all are the best and I love the fact that Huston showed how much Big Mack meant to him. He is a special young man. Keep doing what you do and believe in, I’m a goat lover, gardener just love you guys to pieces. You get me through some bad days I am a widow and just seeing your smiling faces, the fact that you all are Christians means a lot to me. God Bless and please be safe.❤️🙏😘

Big Mac had a better life then most cows have, he was treated extremely well and it would be wonderful if all cows could be treated so well. Its a great lesson to learn for adults and kids the price of the meat you eat is more then dollars it was a living creature once its good to have a respect for that.

One of my daughters is the same age as Houston, she'll be seven years old in July. At first when Houston was upset and hugged you at the butcher, I thought; "Awe poor kiddo, he's so sweet." Then I started to cry too haha! Houston is such a good kid.

Daniel, I agree with you 100%. I did the same thing with my calf's. I let my kids decide on the name for the calf and they were told what was going to happen ahead from the beginning. Yes some of them cried on "Butcher Day" but we celebrated its life and remembered all the good times and the bad times ( like having to feed in the rain and storms ). Did it negatively effect my kids while growing up or as young adults or grown adults, POSITIVELY NOT. They still to this day will talk about those calfs to one another and with us at family functions and with there own kids. All of my sons and daughters ( Three girls and Two boys ) are healthy, happy, well adjusted adults. So congrats to you Daniel for doing the same thing !!!!!!!!!!

I am 54 yrs old and was born and raised in Oklahoma (Bethel Acres, Shawnee and Tecumseh area) and was raised on a Dairy & Beef Farm. My Daddy raised me \ us (my siblings) with the exact same way of think'n you just spoke. I WOULDN'T OF WANTED to have been raised or taught any other way. I'm Honored that my Daddy & other Family chose to do it the way they did. So may God continue to Bless you and your family and as long as you acknowledge HIS blessings on your path, you have my Respect and Support Sir. 👍💞🙏🇺🇸🙏💕

I totally understand the whole thing about raising cows and treating and feeding them well but it's sooooo hard to say goodbye. I appreciate what you do for your family and would never criticize you, it's just hard to see. But I will continue to watch because I know how much care and concern goes into what you do!! I'm sure this is hard for you all but you do it with kindness and love!

Cow intestines are my favorite, we wash the intestines in salt and water and washed with clean water last, then we broil the intestines with salt to your liking for about 20 minutes depending on the broiler temp and when it’s done it should be semi crispy and we eat it with rice and pepper 😋

Much respect Daniel, it’s a big difference from hunting lions, leopards & rhinos. 3 families are grateful for Big Mac, he’s served his family well and provides. It’s the way it’s done as they say home grown. I barely eat red meat anymore due to your rationale, it just makes sense. Sadly that knowledgeable people don’t get this simple way of life. There wasn’t freezers 2-3 hundred years ago, it could go back more but it would be redundant. Blessings to Whopper for giving his life for sustaining your family. May he’s life be full of love & care. Keep your head up Houston, just like you, one day you’ll be handing down all of life’s teaching that you Daddy gave you.

So much love to you and your family, Daniel! I was raised knowing most of our animals were destined to feed our family or another's. I even had a steer named Big Mack when I was Houston's age, who we raised with love and cried over when he went to the processor. My 8 year old and I watch your videos - and my 82 year old father too - and get so much education and enjoyment out of them! Thank you so much for sharing part of your family's life with us 💜 My 8yr old tells me all the time how he wishes we lived close to you, as he knows he and Houston have a lot in common and, maybe mostly, because he loves fishing and the idea of a creek and pond on our own property would be like heaven for him!! Thanks again, and God bless 🥰
