This Footage is not from today, it is from february 25. No surf today/yesterday. The swell was not as big as expected/forecasted. Not a single surfer nor jetski in the waves...

Do the jetski drivers do this for free and the fun?
@vlkrprayforsurf.82822 жыл бұрын
Hey Josephine. It depends. There are some jet ski pilots who do it (sometimes) for free (and for fun) and there are those who get paid (and do it for fun). Most of them are either part of a team (Young Bulls, Red Herrings a.s.o.) and/or do have sponsors ... During the official competitions there are several jet ski pilots per team: there are two Big Wave Surfers sharing one jet ski plus a second rescue on an extra jet ski. The second rescue usually does not surf on a competition day (unless it's Lucas Fink. He is freesurfing in between the heats on his skimboard). At the beginning of a heat surfer A is driving the jet ski and surfer B is surfing. Every now and then they switch. (A heat is usually 30 - 40 minutes in Nazaré. Most of the teams switch after 15/20 Minutes.)

When was this taken? I was there the 11th and 12th March and saw nothing like this.

@@Salford66 February 25th. See description. Big days like these are very rare. I would say 5 - 7 days per season. February 25th was special, because there was no competition. It was all freesurfing... See also description....

@@vlkrprayforsurf.8282 Thanks for the reply. I will return to Nazare at some point. Hopefully I will be lucky.
