The Mets will do their due diligence to sign Soto and they will for sure be one of the top bidders. However, I’m certain there is a limit all interested teams are willing to go to. In the end, if the Mets don’t land Soto they will pivot accordingly.

Does Soto want to play in NY? If so, if the mets and yankees bid as the 2 highest bidders where would Juan play? We don't know yet.. He hasn't signed.. In the meantime the mets are being held up on their starting pitching acquirements. They lost Snell. Do they want to stall for Corbin Burnes too? You can have Juan Soto on your team but with Senga who is their ace has a history of injuries now and Maneia still a free agent the timing could be a make or break. As of right now the mets cannot compete with the Dodgers. No pitching is ticket for disappointment even for the division.
