They purposely lure you in to that belief. This is how they’re trained. Their job is to get you in that room and say something, ANYTHING, that can get you free room and board. It’s always better to have someone there who knows the law to guide you through these situations. Even if you are innocent as you mentioned, you may STILL say something that they can use against you and hold you there. So express your innocence to your lawyer. “Anything you say CAN and WILL be used against you.” The thing is, people talk because they want to get out of there quickly, or the police gas them up by saying things such as “you’re looking at 25 years for this”, so it rattles people in to talking. But to wait for a lawyer means sitting and waiting hours upon hours. It’s designed to make it unbearable. Not knowing that the several hours of waiting could be the difference between a sentence and freedom. The worst 2 words an investigator can hear from a suspect are “no comment”. Take the case in this clip, Big Mike spoke and also implicated Von. He wound up with something like a 15 year sentence, not serving all of it. Von remained silent and his defence was that he wasn’t even there. Von spent 3 years awaiting trial, but walked.
