No, it doesn't make sense. I hate inaccurate counter when the number is already know, 330+, more than 5, 1200 when it's 1187. Titles with "...", "How to make ....", "Tutorial for beginnings about ...". We are going to a dark era of haziness in web design because some market guy prefer to suggest and send subliminal messages rather begin straight. Btw, thanks for the tips.

Thank you so much for this video. I've only been animating a few months and have been discouraged, mostly because the process isn't so fun for me and I seem to rush through. Seeing the final result, though, is what keeps me interested in animation. Thank you! My biggest problem on animating is that I compare my own animations to other, better animations. But after watching this, I will try not to do it, and rather keep practising to make my own animation better.
@KarjamP7 жыл бұрын
1: If you are discouraged even after not progressing as quickly as you'd hoped, that means you don't have a good enough focus, in which case, you'd need to either find a way to increase it through some needs or quit trying altogether, and you _don't_ want to do the latter. Goals and plans are often suggested means to improve them, but there are others. 2: Comparing yourself to other artists is one of the best means to learn. Doing this not only helps you know what works and what doesn't, it also allows you to pick up new techniques you may not had thought of otherwise. Again, if you get discouraged as the result, you don't have a good enough focus. 3: Animation is like all art. As such, this advice can be applied to anything besides animation. If you don't have a poorly thought-out ending, however (or pretty much poorly thought-out anything), that means you're doing it wrong, plain and simple. This doesn't apply to improper planning since it's possible to create masterpieces entirely through improvisation, which, by its very definition, makes them improperly planned. 4: No matter the reason, if you're putting things off, that's procrastinating, plain and simple. It applies as much to animation as everything else. Therefore, if you're the type to put off making animations, you may not have the right attitude. 5: Again, if you're hitting a slump in motivation, you don't have the right focus. 6: Style is supposed to be in support of the work, not in support of yourself. Seriously, I see this sort of advice all the time. Style, as mentioned here, is only used as an excuse to draw in a certain way. This sort of attitude misses the point on what you're supposed to be doing: projecting thoughts through your work. 7: Plagiarizing makes you a thief, not an animator (or artist). This is technically not a pitfall anymore than not being considerate. 8: If you're not enjoying the end result even after having the right focus, that means you were focussing on the wrong things. You need keen focus in order to do art, and you need to be able to focus on the right things. If you think this is simple, think again, for animating, as with all art, requires plentiful of careful thought.
@MysticMadelaine057 жыл бұрын
KarjamP great!
@theo49917 жыл бұрын
Interesting perspectives! However, I wouldn't say focus is always the biggest problem. Discouragement can come from being so focused on the end goal that you forget about enjoying the process, which is required, and which demands time before it can be rewarding. It can be because people forget, like he said, to enjoy themselves with it, and to not be so totally drawn into the need to improve. Sometimes people need to focus on improving a bit less in order to be motivated, to give themselves time and the room to explore and actually try new things. Referencing and identifying inspirations is one thing, but I think the comparison he is referring to is the comparison that's used to judge your value as an artist, not just to have someone to look up to. It's, unfortunately, a very thin line between what is healthy and unhealthy when it comes to comparing. But yes to plagiarism being taken more seriously! People don't realize it's illegal because it's a bit hard to take action when it comes to an online space, but agreed, it needs to really be called what it is.
@KarjamP7 жыл бұрын
Amanda Carvalho Do not underestimate the power of one's focus and the impact it has on one's life, for focus is really the ability to sort through your own thoughts, to toss out the bad ones in favour of the thoughts you'd want to keep. If you don't enjoy the process, you don't have the right focus. Plain and simple. To focus correctly involves having a clear mind while doing so. In fact, to strain yourself while attempting to focus actually proves you don't know how to do so properly. Under your second point, that is, to use comparisons as a means of judging value, I was talking about this as well. If you get discouraged when comparing your work to others, not only is your focus ability not strong enough, you may also have a fear for failure, something no one looking to improve themselves should have.
@souronion9067 жыл бұрын
I think this video was meant to help encourage new animators to not have a fear of failure, to find their own styles and build their own career in animation rather than relying on others. It's nice to look up to someone once in a while, and to take inspiration from. But when that turns into thinking you are not good enough and looking at other animations while seeing the strengths in them and the weaknesses in your own, then that is what loses the focus, self-esteem, and motivation in your work.
@KarjamP7 жыл бұрын
Nat Hays All of which, can be avoided if you know how to focus. Really, no matter its original intent, an advice that's deceptively flawed in some way is still that. These sorts of "motivational" tips, even things like "start on smaller projects instead of bigger ones", are all attempts of making things easier for a beginner's lack of proper focus, where in fact, they just provide a sense of false security. In the case of "start on smaller projects", what's to say you don't feel discouraged if you follow that adivce? After all, you're still doing something that could potentially hamper it instead of help. Even if you do succeed on your smaller projects, you'd still need to do those of a bigger scope some day in the future. ("Experience" only goes so far within this context. As what many people were to tell you, those thoughts never disappear. This is why you need a proper ability to focus.) (By the way, "style" is meant to be in support of the work itself, not for yourself. Sticking to one "style" severely limits your potential. Not even the great animators do this. Yes. they have a "default artstyle" (which they use if they're just drawing more casualy), but when the need arises for their work, they will switch. "Style" used in that manner is just the artist trying to make excuses for drawing a certain way. If you look closely at their work, you'd notice that auch artists are either using formulas in order to draw (rather than just merely projecting their thoughts as what one's supposed to do), they're not fully aware of what they're doing or both. Even those who pride themselves as teachers fall under one of these two categories, their advice being flawed as a result.)

@jaytamayo46947 жыл бұрын
I agree in everything he have said! I experience many of the pitfalls. well, I am not an animator [yet] but I am wondering to be one. Even in making some drawings which I visualize but because of lack of skill makes me frustrated. The feeling of loosing the self-steem; "I think I can't bla bla bla." But that is a BIG MISTAKE. Instead of digrsting the mistake, oneself should focus on just doing whatevet he or she is doing. Just like what Howard said, "ENJOY THE PROCESS". Whenever I look at what I did, copied or my own art works makes me feel happy and get that sense of Achivement. I have my own style yet I tend to set that aside because I wanted to be as good as others. then again, they have also once in their life experienced the ugly or very amature/bigginers level. If you read this who wishes to be an animator or an artist in whatever fortei, RESET your brain. Whatever dream we want to achieve there is a process. let us unit our hearts in full filling our dreams. step one back, look at the goal, and run for that. It would also be helpful to change our Handwriting. Watch GRAPHOLOGY Videos. :-) Thank you very much for this video because I muself feels down because of my impferfection which I should have not be feeling for I am a begginer. The training for animation for free os far away from my hands but hopefully it will be reachable in soonest time. We are Genius in our own right!

The paintbrush basically moves in the direction of the cursor but the two arent touching, its weird but anyone whos used GIMPS smoothing probably understands. A problem that I've always been facing certain times. How do you catch yourself doing sloppy work and how do you slow down?

I have the problem of comparing my work to Yutaka Nakamura, in my opinion, he's Japan's greatest fight animator, and I'm always rewatching his portfolios and furiously scrawling down every note and M.O. he uses. Especially his cubism style, impact frames, and extremely obvious expertise on lighting and anatomy/movement. I assume most of you know him but if you don't, do yourself a favour and search his name on KZbin. You will not be disappointed, trust me.

I made a course which teaches his Yutapon Cubes animation technique, you might be interested in taking the course: gum.co/sakuga-debris-usd

Number 4 is one I'm guilty of several times over. I've written the scripts for night on 50 separate animations now and am just tucking them away for "when I'm good enough to do it right".

where does plagiarism begin? is it to be inspired by some keyframes? because in your process your keyframes are bad. on 2 minutes of animation. you are (inspired, not copying) of only 2 or 3 keyframes. we are all inspired by each other. even your animations make me think of another animator that I forgot the nickname. we invent nothing from nothing

Thats a debate that will never end. I don't have the final answer. But I guess just try to be respectful and self aware. Its always good to take influence from multiple diverse sources.
