Hi Alfie, thanks again for the interesting update on all things cruising! Interesting to hear that a number of cruise lines may be selling off surplus capacity, in an attempt to support savings, bearing in mind the staggering losses that you reported in the vlog. Glad to hear also that repatriation, including yourself, will soon be completed, except for essential manning, to keep the vessels going! Would certainly support your thoughts on a regular weekly, or bi-weekly update, possibly on your return to the UK, and beyond. It was very encouraging to hear the uptake on Island Princess world trip, for 2021, which gives us all some encouragement for the return of the industry. Thanks once again for the interesting updates from Coral Princess, all best, Graham

Yes Alfie, regular updates from you would be VERY welcome. We had 6 cruises cancelled and now have 6 cruise credits (whenever they are eventually processed) with Princess, P&O Australia and RCI. We also have a Costa booking for October, which we expect to be cancelled - but we are getting total silence from Costa. Sadly, communication from all cruise companies to their customers has been dismal, so any updates that you can provide are greatly appreciated. The Australian government announced that it's unlikely for international travel to resume until 2021. This is realistic as covid19 is still increasing globally. However, it's hoped that domestic cruises can resume within Australian waters some months before cruises from overseas ports, with the exception of New Zealand, will be allowed in Australia.

I would really like hearing your “weekly” take on what is going on in the cruise industry, so definitely a weekly news blog. I also really appreciate your willingness to show and talk about so much behind-the-scenes stuff, things we don`t get on other cruise blogs. Someone commented to me recently about “gosh people are still stuck at sea!!!” And I proceeded to tell them about Princess`repatriation....but how does this situation stand throughout the industry? -surely there aren`t still passengers stuck at sea and are other cruise lines also repatriating? Would appreciate hearing on this.

Thanks for the pointer on the Resolute. Interesting story. Was a Canadian operator. and RCGS: Royal Canadina Geographic Society with whom the operator had partered. Their web site is still up, but apparantly they haven't been paying bills. As the Canadian arctic communities have been on stricter travel bans to ensure COVID doesn't reach them (insuffiocient medial facilities to treat patients), the cruise restrictions were imposed very strictly there. Wth regards to cruise ship retirements, I assume it is a very complex decision not just on ship's age, but also financing costs, operating/crew costs, and whether they can still fiull the ship. COVID19 adds a new twist: what if you need a 5000 capacity ship to carry 2500 passengers due to isolation, greater distance betene tables in dining areas etc. Which ships can be profitable running half enpty compared to before? There may be some areas of the world where normal cruise operations can happen, but in others, it make be "none at all" for a long time, or some with very strict restrictions. Domestic cruises from planes like New Zealand and Australia would be possible as they have their numbers under control. But you guys will have to get strict testing when you load your ship with crews from around the world (ro whenever crews switch ships). On the other hand, COVID is getting much worse. It took two months to get the first 86,000 cases. Now, they see 150,000 new cases PER DAY. And the americas are now the worst hit. Very bad numbers in Florida. If it continues this way, you will want to stay on your ship. So this may delay cruises in many areas of the world for quite some time. Only time will tell.

CMV ships have been seized in port, Crew and other issues have come to light. I said, on another video series, that second hand ships are in serious trouble. All those old ships in Europe and abroad are not cost effective even if they are popular among cruisers. Cruise lines are saying that the newer ships even at lower capacity are the most useful money wise when cruising begins again. But its all speculation though, second hand ships might not make it out of this alive. Good to see you Alfie. Keep us posted.

Hope that you get home very very soon, it has been a long process.
