Yep! That is all it would have taken. Pat should have said, "We can't afford to tie up $50 million and if $35 million makes you feel angry and disrespected then trade it is. OR pay him the max extension but balance it over the 4 years $50/$35 mill/$30 mill/$30mill That's a decent send-off for a player that would be 39 years old at the end of the contract, with declining skills, and basically a rotational player. IF Jimmy balks at that then Adios, Amigos!

Pat has failed the last 10 years being cheap!. They weren't going to extend him so they should've traded him in the off season... You guys are pointing the finger at the child and not the parent!
