Big Power Gets Results

Dad had a problem with a big snow bank that was blocking his garage door. I brought him the biggest skidder we have for him to operate. The Timberjack/ John Deere 848H was a good match for the job.
Dad can appreciate moving snow banks. He relives a story from his past and I was fortunate to get it on video.

Way to go Dad! Your Dad can not only get up into the skidder, he can still operate it just fine. As we get older our hand/eye coordination and depth perception aren't as good as they were. He's still got! Really good to see him out in the machines!

That picture of the old TD-9 sunk in the pond/creek brings back a memorie. Back in about January 1978 I tried to cross a frozen drainage ditch with my dads old CAT D-4, but there was too much water below the ice, about half way across she broke thru. I was sittin in water and ice up to my waist.

I can relate to some of that HD snowplowing, back in the 1980's. When we had a big storm, I would plow snow for the local township, with an old Cat #12 grader. It dont snow like that too much these days. Your dad has lots of good "Back in the day" stories.

Reminds me of when we were plowing the sub division we worked at the snow drifted 6 feet over the road my boss was freaking out, I went back and got our Deere 850j with its 6 way blade I had that snow up over the hood at times but got it opened up!

Hi Dave!!😀😀 Good to see you my friend!!😀😀 I always love listening to the story's that your dad tells of how things were 50 to 60 years ago. You guys got a lot more snow this year than we did. We never had more than about 8 inches of snow this year. But the frost really got driven deep this year. We had between 3 and 4 feet of frost this year. Now we are still waiting for it to go out. Cool video, Uncle over in Wisconsin finally gave up plowing last year with his old Ford tractor and bought a plow for his pickup he is still deer hunting at 90.

I built a adapter for a friend so he could mount a big dot surplus plow off a dump truck to the blade on his skidder. He couldn't change the blade angle but it really moved the snow when he plowed his way into the timber sales. It bolted to some holes drilled into the blade of the skidder and the frame of the plow blade. Have a great day.
