BIG RED Tractor Wont Start??? FIXED (Massey Ferguson)!!!

Massey Ferguson 290 Tractor has been sucking in air to the fuel lines somewhere. If you ever have this issue with a diesel, check you have plenty of fuel in tank, then systematically release the pressure on the nuts or screws on your fuel line and make sure you crank the engine after each nut to see if you've released the air!! hope this helps !! if it didn't work then check your Diesel filters!!

air being introduced is 9 times out of 10 getting in before or at the lift pump ( primer pump with the handle). After that it is under pressure so more likely to leak out under pressure than suck air in. a clogged filter will starve it of diesel preventing it from revving out and then poss introducing air. To bleed the tractor slacken or remove the bung on the top of the filter housing at 4:03 in the vid. (the one with the arrow pointing out of the filter without a pipe attached.) work the primer pump until diesel flows out of here. Tighten / refit. Now slacken but dont remove the 2x 5/16(8mm) bleed screws on the injector pump. - right of pic at 4:33. then keep working the primer pump until diesel squirts out of these screws with no air. leave them slightly slack and crank the engine. if it doesnt fire after 15 seconds, slacken one of the injector pipes 5/8 (16mm) where finger is at 4:40 ( any of them doesnt matter) about half a turn, and then crank engine over and it should start within 15 seconds. If not, pump the primer some more checking for diesel at the 2 injector pump bleed screws and then crank again. once started, tighten the 2 bleed screws, and the injector pipe and happy days.
