Good episode. There were a lot of late fish this year, got as many in November as I did in October.

Great content, keep up the good work. I have a question about your float setup. What reel do you use? Line strength and amount?

I typically use a Shimano Curado 200 HG. This is a high gear ratio model, for fast retrieve speed. It fits great in my hand and the high gear ratio adds many more casts to my day. I use 20 lb braided mainline. I’ll double uni knot a 10 foot section of fluorocarbon line to my braided mainline if I’m concerned with fish seeing my braid (in very clear conditions). Hope this answers your question and thanks for watching.

Is there a specific reason why a chrome fish will go dark after it’s been bonked?

I tried to find the answer online and couldn’t find much. What I do know, is most often these Chameleon Coho, will have a darker belly with silver sides, often quite chrome looking. If you know what you’re looking for you can tell the difference. I was on another river, a few days after this video was filmed and killed 4 Coho. I knew for sure I had 2 fresh fish and 2 that would darken up a bit. I only kept them because their flesh was very firm. If they look silver, have a greyish belly and are kinda soft to the touch, you have dog food.
