Subscribed. Biased as a fellow Kiwi - but the calmness about collecting singles after your shoulder went meant you never looked under pressure. Nicely batted.

As well as you time the ball the most impressive thing about this innings is your incredibly low dot ball percentage - such an underrated skill continuously rotating your strike and keeping the scoreboard moving - even with you shoulder you're comfortably at a run a ball

Appreciate that mate, have worked hard on my ability to rotate strike through the middle overs, so glad it is paying off! 🏏

top knock man, any tips for building a long innings?
@thekiwicricketer6 ай бұрын
Thanks for the support mate! For me longer innings are about being patient for a couple of balls in my area early doors which I can put away for four or six, generally I will soak up a few dots and wait for the ball in my zone so can be a slow starter. Then once I put those couple balls away the field gets pushed back making it easy to rotate strike for the rest of the innings, focusing on singles instead of boundaries 🏏

Putting your favourite shot away can make you a better batsman because you then have to think more about what alternative shot(s) you can play to the same delivery you would have otherwise played your favourite shot to.

Definately, I get frustrated when there are balls in that slot that I would usually punish that instead I have to hit for singles, however like you say, good to learn to adapt!

Really enjoying the content mate. Appreciate how you don’t go too over the top with anything re commentary or personal stuff or anything, and instead you just let the cricket be the forefront of the content. Get that shoulder checked out though mate - personally had my own battles with shoulders (4 reconstructions) and it does sound a little bit like you might have a damaged torn labrum which is causing the instability. Unfortunately it doesn’t go away by itself and can lead to some pretty nasty dislocations. Take care, but might be worthwhile getting an MRI scan to see what you’re working with
@thekiwicricketer6 ай бұрын
Thanks for the support and advice mate! Did yours happen during batting as well? 4 reconstructions sounds horrible you are a trooper! I have had MRI and looks like it is a labrum problem, no surgery but decent recovery time depending on rehab so hoping for quick recovery! Any content youd like to see in the meantime let me know, all advice welcome!

Hey man, I’m sure you’ve worked it out by now but I’m pretty certain that issue with your shoulder is tendinitis - feels like it’s dislocating but it’s your tendon getting pinched sharply. I usually get chills running down my arm after as well. Real agony when it happens. It’s a bit of a tall guy/posture problem but bands to strengthen your rotator cuff/pull your shoulders back and gels to soothe the tendons should help for sure. Took me about five years to get a proper diagnosis as no one was sure what was happening when I went to physios…
@thekiwicricketer5 ай бұрын
Thank you mate! I have had an MRI and they have diagnosed it as having subluxations so minor dislocations. Have been working through a lot of rehab and it seems to be bringing it back to full strength so have my fingers crossed for no more issues! Really appreciate you taking the time to give me some advice! Are you back on the park full time, or is it still giving you issues?
@sebwhale60475 ай бұрын
@@thekiwicricketer ah great to hear you got a diagnosis - that sounds rough, sorry to hear it. Ignore my ramblings about tendonitis... I just recognised your descriptions of the pain and the shots that triggered it, so figured it might be the same thing. I've never properly got everything sorted/diagnosed so it did stymie cricket for me, but maybe one day I'll get back out there properly. All the best for the continued recovery and thanks for the great content!

Any tips for hitting it over cow corner struggling to go up and over him in adults and I’m 12
@thekiwicricketer6 ай бұрын
If you struggle to get it over cow corner off pace bowling I would tend to shuffle back and across as it gives me better ability to get under the ball and means I am further to the off side so easier to strike the ball towards the leg side. I would typically only use this when in need of a boundary and they are not bowling any bad balls! For a spinner I would usually get on one knee to strike over cow corner, have to pick the right length though. I find I am playing my best when I aim straight instead of over cow corner. I’d say stick to finding your gaps along the floor and building an innings if you have enough time!

What level did you play at in NZ? And how would you compare the relative standard of the cricket you’re playing here with what you played at home?

Played Premier Cricket in Auckland which was much stronger cricket then what I am playing now. Used to play as a pace bowling allrounder but injuries have meant I’ve converted to off spin. Where abouts are you from?

@@thekiwicricketerI’m down near the coast in east Devon. Retired from playing but watch a lot of cricket at all levels, and write about it.
