Just what I needed! 😘 PS: I think you absolutely can be friends with an ex but not at first. You have to really cut that person off to heal, but later down the road when you’ve both truly moved on, a friendship is possible. Both my husband and are friends with my ex boyfriend. We dated for 3 years and lost touch for about 6 years. We reconnected like 5 or 6 years ago and I think the friendship works because we are not even remotely the same people we were when we dated, and we have both moved on. I’m married with kids and he’s engaged. But I definitely agree that it’s not possible or even healthy to attempt a friendship right after a breakup.

@@goodiegoodygumdrops oh I know! I don’t think our situation is common, but I just wanted to let people know it is possible. If my ex wasn’t in a committed relationship, I don’t think we’d be friends. I’ve been married to my husband for 14 years this year so if you do the math, my relationship with my ex was a long time ago. We maintained a “friendship” the first few years of my marriage because my ex was deployed in Afghanistan so we were just supporting him and we’d answer phone calls. When he got home, we lost touch. It was only after we saw each other at our high school reunion that we reconnected and my husband has a good relationship with him. I definitely don’t think it’s a realistic scenario for everyone though!
