You had to see my little toddler this afternoon, Miranda. He asked me who you were. I told him you are a beautiful woman who loves books very much (he too!!) and that you were showing your favorite books to him. He immediatly picked up a lot of his (Bob the builder) books and he showed every book to you, told you why he loved these books in his toddler-language and laid the books against your book on the screen. It was absolutely adorable ❤️ Thanks for your video and wonderful bookrecommendations! Greetings and love from the Netherlands.

I love hearing you speak about your favorite books from childhood and then reuniting with them again. A favorite quote of mine… “There are perhaps no days of our childhood we lived so fully as those spent with a favorite book.” These words are by Marcel Proust and are so true for me also.

Hi Miranda You inspired me so much. I love books always have, but I have a reading disability, so in my life time I sad to say I have not read very many books, but thank God for books on CD and now Audible. I do read when I'm able, but I love Audible. I have to have the book if I'm using audible, some how it gives me more of a connection to what I'm listening to, if that make sense. Thank you for sharing your love for books. Also I'm a Quilter, I love the quilt behind you, it's beautiful!

Dear Miranda, thank you for this lovely video. I recently completed my collection of all the "shoe" books by Noel Streatfeild, since I couldn't read them all in German as a child because only a few were translated. I always love your book haul videos very much. They are so inspiring that in the near future I'll need another bookshelf.😂 It was so so lovely meeting you and Donna yesterday on zoom, it not only only made my day but my week indeed. Have a wonderful week you two❤❤

I so love your book hauls! I always find several things to add to my TBR. I'm especially interested in the book of A. A. Milne essays - the Winnie the Pooh books were the first ones I could read by myself when I was little, and they still have a special place in my heart. I'm looking forward to seeing what his writing for adults is like. Thank you! ❤ 📚

Another lovely video, thank you! Did you know that A A Milne's short stories for adults have just been collected & published by Duckworth? Complete Short Stories of A A Milne, introduced by Gyles Brandreth. I read Salinger Year a few years ago & enjoyed it. It's a very New York story so I'm as surprised as you are that you haven’t read it! The agency is stuck in the 50s, no computers, just a Selectric typewriter. I also enjoyed the movie, Sigourney Weaver is great. I have to say, I enjoyed the office politics more than the author's personal life, but it was a very good read & watch.

Thank you Miranda for such an interesting & varied book haul as always! I love the thought of your lovely mum trawling the charity shops to add to your collection. I understand and relate to your pleasure in replacing books that have been lost in house moves. We moved many times when i was growing up, and books would sometimes be lost in the process. In addition, we had some of our belongings stolen whilst in storage, among them a big box of my books. Part of my book loving soul still grieves that loss, I remember the lost books so well! Thank you for everything you do. My life would be less the rich without your channel. ❤

Lovely video again Miranda. My sister-in-law, husband & her family, live in the centre of Boroughbridge, such a beautiful little market town ❤ You have inspired me to visit all the charity shops in the centre of Wigston, Leicester, tomorrow. There are about 9 of them to go through & see whether i can pick up any good 2nd hand books to read. I am using our village library in Kirby Muxloe which is run & staffed entirely by volunteers. Every Monday & Tuesday in March, you can pop in there for a 'free' cup of tea or coffee & sit in a beautifully warm place full of like minded people to have a little browse. Looking forward to seeing you next Sunday Miranda. By the way, i also picked up 'Drawn to the Garden' by Caroline Quentin from our local Sainbury's supermarket & cannot wait to delve into it......lt looks delightful xx

I've started collecting the Little Grey rabbit vintage books, I remember the ice skating one with great fondness from childhood and it took me a while to realise it was from the Little Grey rabbit collection! Vintage children's books are my absolute favourite, it was definitely the time in my life when I loved reading the most. For that reason I would love to read the AA Milne essays, I just cannot read Winnie the Pooh now, despite loving it as a child! 💛

Thank you Miranda for such a lovely Spring book haul, there are certainly a lot of wonderful books there. The ballet books took me back to when I was a little girl taking ballet lessons after school. Sadly I grew up very fast to be very tall and my mother suggested another form of dancing that might suit my height better. But I do remember having my very first ballet shoes and trying them on! I love the film 'The Red Shoes'. I am currently reading Alison Uttley 'The Country Child'. Thank you for recommending! It is such a lovely book, her descriptive writing really takes me back to those past times and traditions. Have a wonderful week!

I listened to this late yesterday evening and enjoyed hearing about your fabulous book haul. I'm in full agreement with you about Ballet Shoes, definitely my favourite Noel Streatfeild title and also a huge influence on my continuing to work at ballet. I like the sound of so many titles on the list, I do want to get the Eva Rice title, love the sound of Windfall and many others too. Unrelated to your vlog but very much related to your love (and mine) of vintage books and bookshops, I came across a new word yesterday and wondered if you knew it: 'Vellichor' (noun): The strange wistfulness of used bookstores, which are somehow infused with the passage of time-filled with thousands of old books you’ll never have time to read, each of which is itself locked in its own era, bound and dated and papered over like an old room the author abandoned years ago, a hidden annex littered with thoughts left just as they were on the day they were captured -- entire lives that you'll never experience. I thought the definition so evocative. I only came across it by accident when looking at knitting patterns! The designer briefly mentioned what the word meant and I delved a little further. Love to you and Donna, and thanks for the vlog.

What a great haul, Miranda! The book I am most tempted to get for myself is Windfall. I know of very few Irish poets (Yeats being the only one who comes to mind) and this would be a great way to familiarize myself with some. My Salinger Year was both a charming book and movie. I recall seeing the movie first and only then discovering that it was based on a memoir, which of course I then had to read. The most recent book I read is The Future is Female! 25 Classic Science Fiction Stories by Women. I’ve read very little SF and thought this would be a good one to start with as March is Women’s History Month. I enjoyed it much more than I expected and plan to use this book as a springboard (or is launching pad more appropriate?) to further exploration of this genre.

Hi Miranda. Thank you for sharing your book haul. Your joy of finding books you enjoyed as a child inspires me to ask you, and others here, how I might find a copy of a book I loved as a young reader in the U.S. in the 1960’s. I think the title was, “Katy Did”. I’ve found similar titles written in later years but not one written in (or prior to) the 60’s.

Montgomery, have you read 'Looking for Anne of Green Gables' by Irene Gammel? I read it last year when I was researching and found it fascinating! Thank you so much for mentioning The Frances Hodgson Burnett biography ...I have been so curious about her life and was very surprised to learn she spent part of her childhood in the USA - I had not known that at all! A splendid book haul - loved it! Happy Sunday!🦋

Thank you for the recommendations Miranda.I think that you’ll love Hens Dancing. It’s one of my comfort reads. If you enjoy it there is a second in the series, and a third novel in which some of the characters from Hens Dancing appear. There are also two Angela Thirkell novels released on Audible on the seventh of March which haven’t been available up until now.

I've just read and loved the second A Bletchley Park Mystery: Hide and Seek. A second world war middle grade series by Rhian Tracey. I'm now reading another ww2 book based on the author Lucille Abendanon grandmother called The Songbird and the Rambutan Tree. So far it's really good ❤

Another great selection with so much of interest. I do have the L M Montgomery, and also 'Infamous Army' (not with that lovely cover, though). I understand IA was once a text at Sandhurst because of the meticulous detail re Waterloo.

Lovely video Miranda. I need to get Secret Voices whenever it’s available here in the US. I have a weakness for diaries. Also love Nina Stibbe and Caroline Quentin so will have to get those books also. I did read My Salinger Year which I found interesting as a piece of social history and also to see comments on various authors that the literary agency represented. Salinger was not really the focus of the book. I do remember reading Rafaella Barker years ago and found her book delightful!

Hi Miranda. I have ordered a few if AA Milnes adult books. There seems to be about 8 that are available at Blackwells. From memory there are Mr Pim, The Rabbits , Chloe Marr all with similar covers. I haven’t read any yet but they are on my shelves waiting. Maybe something you would enjoy

Lovely books and I could watch you forever discussing books! Im currently reading Mutual Admiration Society by Mo Moulton. It was suggested to me after reading Square Haunting and looks at the female relationships developed by Dorothy L Sayers whilst she was at university and how these relationships continued into the future. I’m finding books about female writers really fascinating at the moment and hope to dive a bit deeper this year. Any suggestions welcome. That said, have a fabulous evening and happy reading x

Hi Miranda, love these book hauls as I always discover new authors. Also loved find out more about A.A. Milne. Currently I’m reading If I Survive You’ by Jonathan Escoffery. It’s his first novel, and talks about racial identity. I cannot put it down.

Hi Miranda! Happy Sunday yo you AND your Mom😊. Enjoyed this very much, as usual😊 I ordered the book about Frances Hodgson and The Lost Bookshop (you didn't share). You should get a little credit. I don't know ANYTHING about Frances Hogson, will be fun to read and learn. Will save up for Stilfall, Emma ( although I have Jane Austin's Collection, that is a gorgeous copy!), and a few others. Thank you so much! Also wrote down the next two book club books, which I have. You're daffodils are so pretty and cheery!

Hi Miranda I have a question. What is different in the American Ballet Shoes compared to the English versions please? Is it the covers? Because Ive noticed on Amazon some American covers are so much better.❤
