Scenic Pacific Coast mountain cliff driving through Big Sur in California northbound on the Cabrillo Highway / California Route 1. Along the way we run into some fog rolling up into the mountains off the Pacific ocean, taking the already amazingly beautiful scenery to another level. We also stop a few times on our journey and turn around to see the most beautiful areas from the opposite direction too.

The colors of the landscape really popped with the overcast. I liked how you got out of your vehicle a few times to show the coastal views. The newly created rock tunnel was beautiful as well as a practical safety feature for the road. Thanks for sharing.

Isn't that rock tunnel called Paul's Slide? I saw in the news that it has been destroyed by a landslide due to the big storm last winter. I'll visit California in September this year and I'm worried if I can see all of this beauty...

I'm not sure what the tunnel is called as it has been some time since I've ventured to Big Sur. I am not surprised however if there have been some slides during last winters epic rainy season. There are ways around if the road is closed. One can travel from the south or from the north and both areas offer stunning views, specifically San Simeon on the south and Carmel/Monterey to to north. I hope you have a good travel and don't get discouraged by unforeseen events. California still has a lot of beauty.

Love your channel. It’s like riding along in your car. I was along this highway when I was 14 on a trip up the coast with my family. I’m now 57. Thanks for taking me back! I’m going through many of your videos of national parks in the western US. Many I’ve been to, some I have not. This is one of the best channels I’ve seen.

Fwiw Pacific Coast Highway is the name in LA county only. That is not the name for most of Highway 1 in California. In fact it has many names like Coast Highway, Cabrillo Highway, among other names. You can always just say Highway 1. Beautiful footage and great videos!
